NOthing ti worry about...yet

#2 Postby Stormcenter » Fri Aug 06, 2004 1:44 pm

Nothing to worry about just yet. Now come Monday and Tuesday well that MAY be another story. I would be VERY
surprised if nothing developed (TD or more)out of this in GOM. It looks like all the ingredients are there for something to get going come early next week. But I know you've heard that tune sung many times before concerning the tropics. So only time will tell if anything gets cooking. Keep us posted dixiebreeze
on pressure readings in the GOM. I think you posted a pressure reading of 29.80 in the GOM earlier this morning. Now that is some low pressure my fellow posters even for fronts.

Whatever survives should head into the GOM and combine with the front. This MAY lead to some development in a few days. I believe thats the latest. Welcome BTW and let us know if you need anything

The most concentrated activity I see in the water vapor image (of the upper levels) is across the central Gulf of Mexico, northwestward into the northwestern Gulf... not in the northeastern portion of the GOM.

pressures are low, typical for approaching fronts, however, where it stalls, probably over central fla, stays over gom for a day or 2, has to watched carefully.

latest pressure off of Homosassa, fl as of 00z was 29.76 pretty low. Winds wsw, further w buoys show w winds and even further w n winds, so possible some kind of low forming on front, but not tropical----yet.

Just south of Mobile, Alabama, pressure with the low pressure system is down to 1007 mb. But winds aloft are not favorable yet with a trough in place. Early next week though, that could be a different story.

Now the activity is in the northeastern Gulf.
