Hey guys, ever thought of this?
Have you guys ever thought of consolidating your thoughts in a few threads instead of thirty? It's kinda hard to read....... anyone else feel this way or am I weird?

It would be nice if everyone would try to check the other threads in a forum to be sure they aren't posting the same thing. It is easy to forget to do that in the heat of the moment when someone has a thought or finds some pertinent information that they feel needs to quickly get to the board. But if you feel that way then maybe someone else has already done it. Just do a quick check and then post if there is nothing like it alrady on the board. The mods do delete duplicate threads and posts we find to try and keep things as concise as possible, but that can be a daunting task with over 1700 members.

It gets pretty hard sometimes not to see dupilcate threads posted ... half of the time, there's just two very quick posters that get the information posted at the same time ... it's almost like a TV news competition, but without the competition.
It's inevitable to see duplicate thread anywhere one posts .. but hopefully, it's held down to the bare minimum ...

I completely understand regarding two posters at the same time..... what's silly to me is to see thirty people posting new threads about each and every small detail, thought, or perceived observation regarding the storm when it could all be put into three or four threads.
vbhoutex, thank you for your response, and I understand your position. Yeah, it is hard to keep things in check when you have ~1700 hurricane nuts posting away!

It's a great idea, in theory. However, if you want to see a failure of this practice, check out the thread entitled "11 AM info on Alex... (put in here)" (http://66.98.251.192/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=34958)
Three posts of the discussion and 2 of the public advisory. People really need to check the above posts in the thread before they post.

Why the failure? I think it's a product of the "look what I have to say! attitude," unintentional of course. Few people are really that self absorbed. It is much more attractive to consolidate related ideas in individual threads, or two if necessary. Of course that means that you shouldn't post inquiries about an eye in an 11am advisory thread... but anything relating to satelitte imagery should be together, along with advisory stuff in it's own thread, and obs in their own thread. Then it's much easier to see threads which cover a different topic.

Don't get me wrong... I probably sounded my post in a way I didn't intend to. I completely agree with the limited thread idea. I've tried starting it before, mainly for foreign systems since this is our first Atlantic storm this year. What I was getting at was after one would post a bulletin, others would continue saying it was AWOL. Then another person would post the same bulletin and then another. I think we're just too excited. We need to get a few storms through our systems before things will simmer down and run more smoothly. (Not saying it won't be a bumpy road.
