Future vertical shear hinders further development!

#1 Postby Guest » Sun Aug 01, 2004 10:32 pm

Sorry peoples it looks like Alex will be a not so intense TS...

VERTICAL SHEAR IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE FROM THE
SOUTHWEST AND ESSENTIALLY CAP THE INTENSIFICATION PROCESS.

Well there is always the next system, which looks good.

After 36 hrs or so that may be true. But before then Signifigant Intensification is possible as indicated by 11PM Disscussion

11PM Tropical Storm Alex Discussion wrote:SIGNIFICANT STRENGTHENING COULD OCCUR MONDAY AND MONDAY
NIGHT AS ALEX BEGINS TO MOVE NORTHEASTWARD AND PASSES OVER THE
GULFSTREAM UNDER DECREASING VERTICAL SHEAR.

Okay the way it's moving Alex, might not get so intense in the next 48 hours. At least not Hurricane strength

Well gee lets see-------- the center has been moving progressively closer to the main convection all day... and is now almost/if not already underneath it... the next 48 hours could hold quite a bit of intensification for Alex....... STORMCHASER16

The center now has to be over land for it not to be wraped into the convection.

That northern lobe that extends out from the main circular convection is about where the LLC is to my understanding at least
