Could this be the next system?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Could this be the next system?

#1 Postby Guest » Sun Aug 01, 2004 4:47 pm

Reports look very possitive.

THE TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 1300 MILES EAST OF THE WINDWARD
ISLANDS IS MOVING WESTWARD AT 20 TO 25 MPH. THIS SYSTEM HAS
BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED TODAY AND SOME ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS
POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

I think we have another winner.

Is Alex setting the stage for a possible visit from soon-to-be Bonnie?!

I mean come on, it wouldn't surprise me to see a Bonnie come to NC, Bonnies are attracted to us :P

That would be freaky to have another Bonnie hit North Carolina. This system is moving very fast. back in the day they only used to move around 10-15 mph. The last few years they cruise across the Atlantic around 20 mph.

Hey Bonnie, when you form, do us a favor and take this year off from being a hurricane. Your history so far is:

1980: Fish hurricane
1986: Texas hurricane
1992: Azores/fish hurricane
1998: NC hurricane

Please? Just once.

Bonnie does have a tendency to form into a hurricane. So does Frances. Frances has reached hurricane status 5 out of 7 times.

Because of the "I" storm streak going on, Ivan is also at risk.

Here are the "I" storms since 1990:
1990: Hurricane Isidore (Category 2) fish storm
1991: none
1992: none
1993: none
1994: none
1995: Hurricane Iris (Category 2) Caribbean
1996: Hurricane Isidore (Category 3) fish storm
1997: none
1998: Hurricane Ivan (Category 1) fish storm
1999: Hurricane Irene (Category 2) Florida, North Carolina (brush)
2000: Hurricane Isaac (Category 4) fish storm
2001: Hurricane Iris (Category 4) Belize
2002: Hurricane Isidore (Category 3) Cuba, Yucatan, Louisiana
2003: Hurricane Isabel (Category 5) North Carolina
