Development possible in E. Gulf!!!

Derek and others will be working late and often from here out it seems. I like to see so many people interested in hurricanes. No one can really explain exactly why it is- but a lot of people are "in to them". Folks like Derek, and others private and gov't are making efforts to better understand what we're dealing with. I for one hope to see a landfalling hurricane- at least I did not cause the hurricane and my work just might yield some data or observations about a hurricane when it matters the most- at landfall. I cannot study hurricanes at landfall if there are none that make landfall. With or without my interest, the hurricanes are coming sooner or later.

Pressures at the buoys around the Keys and in the eastern Gulf have leveled off at around 29:90 with variable wind directions which really don't indicate much of a LLC. Radar loop from Key West shows some rotation with storms NW of Key West moving more quickly NW to SE while storms south and se of Key West moving much slower from South to north. Will be interesting to see how things shape-up Thurs. morning.

never knew my poof statement would cause such a rucas. For the record, I do not want anyone to loose life or property out of any storm. I just like talking, and tracking these forces of nature. I'm a Deputy Sheriff in Franklin County and can't leave even if the worse storm possible would pay us a visit. They are something neat to encounter and I tend to sit back and get alot of the Storm on my video recorder in my patrol unit(weather chaser wanna be) Hope everyone stays safe during this hurricane season.

I commend you for what you do during these storms. I have witnessed first hand what our police departments (and SO's) do to prepare us for these storms. The risks that are taken to protect lives and all the rescues that go on while we are safe in our shelters.

You did not cause a ruckus, we all just need something to track. lol.

The local met said to keep an eye on it, but it looks like it goes anywhere it will be a north central gulf storm.... we'll see!

ETA and GFS model runs seem pretty insistent on at least something interesting popping up, and this has been consistent over a number of runs now (as of this morning, I'm an early bird lol.) There is also the weak divergent flow aloft over the western Gulf, so this could enhance precipitation from any tropical feature that manages to make its way up here. I'm waiting to see if any of this verifies, though.
