Yes the wave now off africa is the back end of the SAL as I posted in my thread about that wave.It may signal changes to more favorable conditions as we turn the calender to august and the MJO spills into the atlantic by the middle of the month..

anyone have a sprinkler we can turn on out there???? lol... someone needs to do some house keeping or something... i think your right cycloneye.. looks like it is going to start WHEN it should.. right on time for a normal start... we have not seen a true "normal" season in so long.... i guess we havew been spoiled....

Steve Lyons referenced this current wave as the blocker as it pushed the high pressure significantly North. Every wave after this one will have serious potential.

NHC's tropical weather discussion from this morning confirm SAL is backing off...


From twd...

TROPICAL WAVE ALONG 24W IS INTRODUCED. SATELLITE IMAGERY
INDICATES THAT IT MAY SIGNAL THE BACK EDGE OF A LAYER OF STABLE
DUST LADEN AIR. SOME CONVECTION IS NOTED AT THE SOUTH END OF
THE WAVE NEAR THE ITCZ.
