Hey Front Porch Peeps!!! How is everyone doing? Summer is half over in our family, school starts in a month. The school calendar is what we follow, not the seasonal calendar! LOL My kids are really bummed that back to school supplies are on sale now. Needless to say, they do not want to go back. I don't want to go back to getting up at 5:40 everyday either! I'm just now starting to feel human again, someone functioning with decent sleep.

Well, just wanted to do the pop in and see who was resting on this porch. Not much resting going on here - weeds have taken over my yard while away on vacation. Where to start? LOL Best get at it.....

Happy Tuesday all!

Hey Shannon...what's this I hear. Temps perhaps teasing the 30's in the UP in the days ahead? Refreshing air as classes come to an end...a nice combination.

What are your plans for the fall? I probably missed it somewhere....but drop me a note and fill me in.

BTW everyone, got a note from Jackie in Pen Argyl a couple weeks ago. She's busy but says hello...and wouldn't you know it, some of you might remember Jen from Iowa (we met on the dark side of the boards!). She now has TWO, count'em, TWO daughters in her life. Like another Jenn we know, she is going into nursing later this year...and is both excited and scared.

Anyway...wanted to say hello before our power goes out again!!!!

Well its really nice right now. Temps in the 60's really refreshing from a few days ago when it would still be in the 80's. The sky is real clear with Millions of stars viewable. :D

Strong Cold Front is on its way. Manitoba Canada dropped 40* within 5 hours.... believe me... its coming. At 930pm International Falls was at 59... afternoon high was 87*. Thursday afternoon mid afternoon highs in the lower 80's, but should drop like a rock after the cold front makes its way through.

One more week of heck classes! Believe me, I can't wait!

Its even better this morning than it was yesterday morning. The temps are dropping off nicely as we got a push of dryer air in from the Northwest today. I may even go as far as to say there is a little nip in the air!!!!! Man this makes me long for winter.

Hello fellow front porch occasionals....:O)

We've had some really REALLY warm temps, but appear to be on a 5-7 degree cool down for the rest of the week...opened windows again today as its only about 85* today!

We have a new toy! We got a vintage 83 convertible Mustang, taxi cab yellow, and are having fun tooling around town in it...it's still all original with some need of some restore work, which gives hubby a new hobby!

Our house in Shreveport sold...yeah...but we didn't get anything out of it...at least no more double payments!

We put B's Mom on the plane back to CHI yesterday after a great-fun filled 10 day visit...take this week off, and then lay the welcome mat out all over again a week from today when we welcome B's Bro and family...Hope they fall in love with our new home/location like his Mommy did!

Take care everyone!

Well, one final exam done... and the other is tomorrow (Thursday). Its been one busy semester with Bio and Calculus, but I manage. Its better than taking both of these classes during the normal semester. Easier to understand. Anyways, once thats over with... I found out that I get a chance to go to the EAA down in Oshkosh for the AF Reserves. So Friday after work, I am spending it down in Oshkosh. Sounds cool!

Sunday morning after church, I am leaving for our 2 week family vacation in Cass Lake, Minnesota (rest of family leaving on Saturday). Unfortunately, I can't leave with my family due to work and a bachelorette party for my boyfriends sister.

Shannon, I bet Brian is loving the new 83 mustang! Boys and their toys!

My Pocket Rocket is a Teal with white top 1993 Mustang LX 5.0L V8 Convertible that I got last March has less than 100k miles on it. To make things more interesting there have been some refinements made to the engine.

Steve, sounds like there's some power in your ride! lol Ours is a 3.2, much to our son's dismay...it's a teeney bit sluggish at take off, but once she's warmed up, and going, this baby goes! (I don't don't think I'll ever own anything with the power that compares to the 2000 Jag we had...that car was STRONG!) I raced a BMW at the light at the beach the other day, and I did win, but at the next light he blew me away...lol )BAD Mommy!) The only ticket I've gotten since I was a teen was a few years ago in my Seabring convertible...I DID race people in that car! I have this silly notion that if my top is down, I'm in a race car....(shakes head)...lol Nah...this new toy of Brian's (I drive it more), is a nice cruiser around town and to the beach...Its southern california...everyones driving old convertibles!

Shannon, I'm waking up in the morning and finding the Mustang left in the driveway...Brian likes the smoothness and comfort of the Caddy...He needs to rekindle his crush on this new car...so I can shop in a/c and have trunk space for my shopping bags!!!

Hey everyone can you please say a prayer for my mom right now? She's in Dearborn County, Indiana and a tornado has been reported in the next county to the west...soon as I find out more I'll let you know...damn this looks like April 1999 all over again! :(

Jeremy :(

Jeremy - did your mom fare well on her visit to Indiana? Did she see the twister possibly on it's way to Holton? I'd have to get a map out to determine if that's even possible. I know where Milan/Versailles/Osgood are but I'm fuzzy on Holton's exact location.

We had a ton of rain from that system over here in Anderson Township (southeastern Cincinnati suburb). Storms all night long Friday night! Power went out for about an hour. It was wild! Thunder seemed to go nearly all night long. The long rumbling type. Dog was up, she was scared. She likes a first floor half bath, without windows, during storms. She was barking and scratching at our laundry room door (her "room") to get out, I merely opened that door, and she almost ran into the bathroom. Hope shuts doors herself and she was hooking the bathroom door with her paw before I could even close it! Pets!!! Anywho, got her all settled in and tried to catch sleep. All of us were dead tired on Saturday. Took in a flea market with my youngest daughter and we heard lots of people saying how tired they were too!!!

And now my grass is going to grow inches overnight!!! By this time, late July, the grass is sometimes dormant, from very little rain. Not this year! Everything is so green.

Well, check in Jeremy and let me know how your mom did with that scary encounter!

She's fine...she was in Aurora, which is in southeastern Dearborn County... Holton is 60 miles west of Cincinnati in Ripley County......the storm crossed northern Dearborn County about 15 miles north of mom's location and went into Franklin and then Butler Counties...they did confirm it was an F2 that hit Holton! BTW I don't usually use the d word but that night I was so upset it just came out...

Jeremy - glad your mom was fine last weekend. That was some wild wx wasn't it?

I'll be offline Thursday thru Sunday, for our annual family reunion at Kentucky Lake, near Paducah, KY. I'll probably pop in a few more times before we pull out but I'm behind in the packing phase - I always am! Seems someone is wanting this washed or that ironed. Or we forgot one more item at Target to pick up....LOL

Have a good rest of the week and weekend everyone if I don't get back this way again.

Jeremy - it must have been more severe over your way. We had a severe T-storm warning for Clermont County, 1/2 mile to my east. It was a downpour but over quickly. Sure seems to be a stormy summer!

Looks like the system now in your area, Jeremy and Mary...will affect parts of the Mid Atlantic and Southeast tomorrow. I heard my local met in Raleigh say the primary threat from a slight risk of (severe) t-storms would be damaging straight-line winds. After a front comes through late tomorrow afternoon or evening it will usher in some very nice air and it looks to be a wonderful weekend and staying fair through at least mid week here! :D

Mary, you, Jim and the girls have a TERRIFIC time at your family reunion at Kentucky Lake! :D
