YET ANOTHER QUESTION.. sorry if you're getting annoyed lol

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Mon Jul 19, 2004 8:23 pm

I promise.. this should be my last question today lol..

Tomorrow.. I plan on making another trip to my bank to add some more money to my slowly growing bank account. I have about 15 dollars in change to add..

Here's my question. Since none of my change is enough to be wrapped into 1 of my coin wrappers.. Can I take it to the bank as is..? Or do I have to get it somehow exchanged for $ bills. {if you're curious.. it's about $5 in qtrs.. $4.50 in dimes.. about $1.15 in nickles and about 25 cents in pennies..} I already have 6 dollars in pennies all wrapped up..

Anyway.. I've been told already that the bank would take it as is.. But I've also been told that I may wanna get it exchanged for $ bills.. what's you alls consensus?

Some banks have a big machine that will sort it and put it in wrappers for you. Call around, they'll probably let you use it even if you don't have an account there.

(I'd count it first) ;) ;)

When I take my loose change down for bills, I just throw it all in one of those large vanilla envelopes and haul it down to the bank. They take care of it in about 10 minutes.

What I had planned on doing {since I don't have enough change to wrap it up} was putting it into 1 of the banks deposit envelopes {I got 1 the other day} and putting it in there.. then writing how much is in it and handing it to the teller tomorrow when I go there..

That way she has the prewrapped 6 dollars in pennies.. and in the seperate envelope she'll have the additional change.. I may even throw in an extra dollar bill or 2 just so I can make my bank balance a little higher lol..

I've already been warned by several not to put ALL my money in the bank just yet because I'm still waiting for my ATM card.. Because I wouldn't wanna get stuck somewhere with no cash.. So I'm depositing my money there in bits and pieces..

Yeah, John, What Kiko said. Any self respecting bank should have a change counting machine.

By the way.. I just counted and recounted and even counted a 3rd time and got the same total each time for my change {$10.64}..

I'm going to assume that's right lol.. But of course.. If I get told a different number in the bank tomorrow.. {higher or lower lol..} Oh well..

Oh all these new experiences with my 1st ever bank account lol

Have fun with your new bank account. I love my ATM Card. It always seemed like I needed money when the bank was closed before the ATMs were put in place here.

I always use the tellers when I can though.

Thanks Garrett.. My bank seems OK so far.. The accountant who set up my account last week is very nice and the person at the teller station was nice when I dep. some money on Friday..

I just hope I get a job soon.. Then I can easily make up for the $ I lose with the slight maintenance fees lol.. I don't mind the maintenance fees actually.. but if they begin to become too much.. I'll close my account where I'm at now and go looking for another bank..

Some banks don't take loose coin in bulk...I know mine doesn't. But probably most do. Good luck with it.

I wanted to update you and let you know my bank took the change as is..

I think I even made the tellers day because she said she needed pennies and I brought her about $6.25 worth of them lol
