Someone put a magnet on my monitor screen
Now the colors are all messed up. I know that if you do that to a tv screen, the colors eventually correct themselves. So far, it hasn't on the monitor. It should come around, shouldn't it?

sez:
...grab a drill? Click it and keep reading.
Worth a try...?
sez:
have no fear, grab a high rpm drill.. strap a couple of magnets on it.
(Hard drive magnets work great. You'll need one at least as powerful as the one that messed up the monitor.)

Worth a try...?

I was gonna say, here's another one:

What the kids inadvertently did was to magnetize the computer screen. It
needs to be "degaussed", i.e., demagnetized. The colors are messed up
because the magnetism is pulling the monitor's red, green, and blue
electron beams away from where they're supposed to be.
Most newer monitors have built-in degaussing ability that's activated by
either on-screen controls or a button somewhere on the monitor. It will
either be labeled "degauss" or perhaps be labeled by a horseshoe-magnet
symbol. After the monitor has been turned on for a minute, press the
button or select the appropriate on-screen menu item. The monitor picture
will distort wildly for a few seconds, then return to normal. Repeat if
the first degaussing doesn't work completely.
If the monitor does not have built-in degaussing, you'll need to purchase
a hand-held degausser. These cost $10 or $20 at R*dio Sh*ck. They're
basically a coil of wire with a handle. You plug one of these in, move it
slowly toward the screen, move it around a bit (small circular motions, if
I recall), move it away slowly, and unplug it. It comes with directions.
Good luck!
