Easy Body Mass Index Calculator

#1 Postby abajan » Sun Jul 18, 2004 10:18 am

Ever wondered how to calculate your Body Mass Index? Here's an easy way:

Go to http://www.caloriecontrol.org/bmi.html and scroll down the page a bit to find the calculator.

I use it every once in a while and (according to this calculator) my BMI is 20.7143.

For anyone that doesn't know, BMI is an estimated measure of your body fat. It's calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared. The only problem with using BMI is that it can't account for muscle, which weighs more than fat.
Healthy is considered: 18.5-25
Underweight: less than 18.5
overweight: above 25
obese: above 30

Thanks for the site. My BMI is 26.68738119845386 , though my waist is lower than 35 inches, which I've been really working on.

Over the past year, I have been watching the type of carbs I've been eating and making sure I get more protein in my diet. I've switched from having a bagel fro breakfast in the morning to an English Muffin - honey wheat. I noticed a difference right away. For lunch, when I bring it to work, I always have yogurt and bring fruit. There's more that I can do, I know, but FOR ONCE, I feel like I've made some kind of positive change to my diet without feeling like I'm missing something!

I've lost 20 lbs since the end of June. I've got some more to go, but I'm happy to finally be losing it.

Do you still run yoda? That could also help with your depression/bipolar!
