I'm just curious if any of you have any historic memorobilia from anything notable that has happened in your lifetime {old newspapers, t shirts, anything else}

Here's a list of some of the things I have..

1994 newspaper from NY Rangers Stanley Cup Win
1995 T Shirt from Magic trip to the Finals
1997 Newspapers from Marlins World Series
1998 Newspapers and a magazine from tornado disaster
2000 "Gore Wins" newspaper
2001 Many notables from 9/11 {3 books, a DVD, 2 newspaper clippings, and a 9/11 commemorative coinset}

Also in 2001- Local Newspaper where I am on front page
2003: Bucs Win Super Bowl newspaper
Jessica Lynch book and newspaper articles including People magazine cover

2003: "Fatal Return" the front page of the Orlando newspaper after Columbia {also got a commemorative magazine from the tragedy}

Also from 2003 "SADDAM CAPTURED!" front page from newspaper..

You could call me a collector of historic memorobilia.. But I just like to keep these for memories.. Mom even told me today that I may have a lot of $ lined up later in life if I ever choose to sell any of this stuff {personally I don't think I'd ever sell it unless I absolutely had too}

I have the Boston Globe with the Challenger blown up, and the local news papers for the days my two sons were born. I also have some newspapers from the watergate era and Nixon's resignation. I used to have more, but can't find them now. As I get older, the more I save, the more clutter I have. I need a whole house just for memories...

Cool stuff Wind.. I was only about 3 when Challenger happened.. that's why I don't remember it too much..

I remember when Columbia never came home last year.. I remember asking mom questions for days about it.. It was like I had gone from being 21.. to like 4 or something lol..

I have a book with a bunch of newspaper covers from September 11th(or 12th in some cases) in them. It's like 100 from mostly around the Country but a few from Overseas as well. I also have managed to keep 3 complete tapes from September 11th and September 14th(the others got erased somehow). I got home from school about 1030am and just hit record and taped for the next week. I have other tapes from the aftermath of 9/11 buried somewhere.

I have a VHS tape called "America Remembers" that CNN aired on the 1-year anniversary. It showed the days and weeks following the attacks in-depth and also showed the flurry of activity as the news broke in the studio. So surreal to watch it.

I have a front page newspaper from here in Alabama when we didn't know who the Governor was for 2 weeks in 2002(Yes, it was so close they started recounts and then the Incumbent Democrat conceded).

I have several books on Operation Iraqi Freedom including one from NBC News with a DVD that showed in-depth war coverage and also remembered David Bloom and a lot of other stuff. I also have a DVD from CNN on the same basic stuff.

Plus I've got hundreds of internet links saved on my computer and video clips from other sites from September 11th, the disputed 2000 election and the war in Iraq.

I also have about 10 tapes from the week-long news story of the death of President Reagan, mostly from MSNBC and NBC News. I even have the exact moment when the story broke.

It gives me chills to go back and watch all of this stuff, but I do it a lot.

I also have two tapes, one from the 1-year anniversary of September 11th and one from the 2-year anniversary

Plus, countless tapes of news stories in the last 3 years, including the Capture of Saddam, the killing of his sons last July, the shooting at New York's City Hall also from Last July, and plenty of tapes of Iraq news post-war(bombings, beheadings etc.)

I plan to have a lot of tapes filled with things related to politics here soon. I have a couple of tapes from the Democratic primaries and 1 debate they had. I am going to tape each night of the Democrat and Republican Conventions, the 3 Presidential debates and 1 VP Debate and of course election night.

Whoops, can't forget Columbia. Several tapes from it, including the memorial service. It's so eerie to go back to the moment it was supposed to land(I was watching CNN for the landing) and then getting knots in your stomach when it didn't arrive. I knew immediately something had happened to it.

It's folded up because my son carried it around in his pocket for weeks while he was writing a 9th grade paper on how he was going to capture OBL for the $5 million FBI reward money written about in the article.

And this was six months BEFORE 9/11.

1860s war letters from dieing and wounded Confederate and Union soldiers.

1912 edition of Boston Globe about sinking of the Titanic.

1995 Northwest Florida special edition on landfalling hurricanes Opal and Erin on the Emerald Coast.

2001 New York Times special edition on 9/11 Attacks on WTC and Pentagon.

How in the heck did you get the Boston Globe during the Titanic? lol.. That's gotta be worth billions by now

It was about what happened to the Titanic, I dont think it would be the real newspaper from about 95 years ago. It has a big picture of the ship and how it sunk and how many died with a picture of Captain Smith next to it.

Apache Scout with the announcement of the death of John Wayne (which BTW...I've got photos of the DUKE with my father and ME!")

I've got a newspaper from the day after Hiroshima was bombed. I have newspapers from our hometown tornado. I have one here of New Year's day after S2k fizzled, and also the one with the DBacks winning the World Series.

I'm sure there are more...the Kennedy assisination I think. They are packed away and yellowing even more as I write.

We have a bunch of old newspapers too. My favorite item is a water bottle discarded by Greg Lemond in the 1986 Coors Classic. That was the year he won the Tour de France. He tossed it aside as he was starting a climb in Colorado. It landed right at my feet!
