I don't get it...my daughter goes back the 9th of August also????? Heck, we I was in school....HEY, no WISE cracks about the dinosaurs we used to RIDE to school "LOL!" we'd get out the Thursday before Memorial Day, go BACK the Tuesday after Labor Day....of course, we didn't get ALL those DAYS OFF either, like "I've got the sniffles Day, FALL Break, I've got a hangnail Day!" Seems like EVERYTIME you turn around, SCHOOLS OUT!

We get a winter break, spring break, inservice days (like 3 mondays a semester), and maybe a snow day. Thats it.

YUP..that was ABOUT it (I think, it's been SOOOOOOOO long ago) for us too. Shoot, this school district up here now even gets the opening day of ELK, DEER hunting season (which BTW....is a GREAT idea!)

School here doesn't get a Winter Break(well they get Christmas Holidays), but I see a lot of schools now having a Fall Break and a SECOND Spring Break STRETCHING the school year out to where they start around the first of August and get out at the end of May. Sad.

Uh... you have to get Federal Holidays off: Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, MLK Day, Presidents' Day.

The county that borders me to the north gets off for ELECTION DAY. Never heard of that before.

Just FYI... it's only when there's a Presidential election I believe. I remember sitting in class in 2000 on Election Day(I was fortunate and lucky to have Civics that semester). Best time to have it ever because of the dispute in Florida.

Sounds like a damn good deal until you hear that we got out June 16, and that our Christmas break next year is going to be a mere one week long.

Oklahoma City area schools were the best.. out May 20, back Aug 15, two week Christmas break. That's how it should be!
