In Missouri primary elections, the voter has to REQUEST his/her ballot per party; this does NOT hold them to vote either way in the general election.
FI, I will most likely ask for a GOP primary ticket in August, but I CAN request a 'general" ticket showing both parties'candidates in November. Not that I WILL, but I have that option.
However, as an "elected" GOP precinct committeeman, I'm already "registered"as a far as can be, but...again, this does NOT necessarily reflect my ability to "cross party lines" in the polling booth.

Here in Texas we can not vote in different primaries. You voter registeration card is marked with which primarey you voted in and you can't vote in any other run offs except the ones you voted for previously(did that make sense?). However, in the general election we of course see the whole ticket and can vote as we care to.

JARA, I could have sworn you were gonna vote for Kerry.
Hey though, seriously, the Bush team needs to send me some stuff. Kerry has been flooding my mailbox.

Hey...I did vote for Bob Graham in Congress. He was a h#ll of a Governor for Florida but then he got swallowed by partison politics during the Clinton years.

mrschad The local election office can provide a list before the election. I don't know what county you live in but it should be easy to find. For judges you kinda have to read the local paper and see how the criminals are being sentenced. If you have a judge that seems to be light on offenders then get him/her out of there. We have one judge here that is very tough on DUI and he always gets re-elected. I think most people just re-elect the judges because they don't see a record like you are looking for. In the weeks leading up to the election our paper profiles the different canidates by office and prints a sample ballot. I always fill it in and cut it out so I can get in and out of the voting booth.

I am still a little over a year from being voting age, but I will likely be an Independent when the day comes, with a tendency to vote Democrat over Republican. For the record, both my parents are registered Republicans and vote via absentee ballot in the state of Florida (yes, that means they helped GW into office last time
).

Republican
I haven't been faced with a Democrat representing my views over the Republican candidate so I've never voted for a Democrat. However, I have skipped voting in a local race because I didn't care for the Republican candidate but I couldn't vote for the Democrat either...he supported things I'm solidly against.
