I just don't get how some of you guys think. Why does everybody gripe about not enough planning, not enough intelligence, how we should have waited, and crap like that when it's W in office, but when Clinton said:

Good evening. Earlier today, I ordered America's Armed Forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical, and biological programs, and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors. Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States and, indeed, the interest of people throughout the Middle East and around the world. Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas, or biological weapons.

...no one griped?

(Source: http://clinton4.nara.gov/WH/New/html/19981216-3611.html )

And for the record, that was probably one of the most Presidential speeches I ever heard Clinton give. I remember being impressed.

But, of course, it didn't last. But every once in a while, he had his moments.

Cannibals is a good word for them.

And you are so right Chad. Those citizens who cheer in the streets are with the terrorists.

Chad ~

But how many REALLY cheer in the streets? When there is a protest in Washington, does it always represent YOUR opinion, or that of your family or friends?

Linda ~

I've seen American protests of all sorts covered by our media, and I've never assumed any of them represented the opinion of ALL Americans.

The media does tend to sensationalize anti-American protests among Arabs or Muslims. But I wont assume that any one protest or celebration represents a national or regional opinion there any more than I would assume it here.

Stormie, you are intelligent and open. A lot of American believe everything that they hear or read. It's lopsided and they believe it. It's sad, but that's the way it is. FOX news is my only channel. I listen to GMA in the morning just to get my blood boiling for the day. I wish we could broadcast the truth - the good, the bad and the ugly. Just watch how long the massacre of this man stays on the news. One maybe two days but yet you'll hear about the "nasty" Americans who put panties over the nude prisoner's head for the next six month!!!! You won't hear about any of the schools that were opened in Iraq or any of the Iraqians who love us. What a shame. Our news media is to blame for most of the unrest. They are the ones waging a war against my President and his policies.

Being home all the time, I have the pleasure of viewing "DaySide with Linda Vester" at noon CDTon FoxNews; one of her pet projects is to air GOOD news from our servicemen and women "over there", just to balance the books...and she (and THEY) do a wonderful job of it!

(Yeah, right...like I only watch for the news... ) Ah, the expressive face of Linda Vester...they don't cal it "FOX" for no reason! :D

Contrary to popular belief, news networks don't avoid "good news" simply to spite a Republican administration or because they hate the US. Good news, most of the time, isnt news, and it certainly doesnt get the ratings bad news does. Think about it ~ how often does you local newspaper lead with the opening of a new school and, in the same day, bury a mass murder below the crease or even on the second page?
The rules aren't going to be any different for Iraq. The media is corporate, and for them ratings=profit. And as much as we might hate to admit it, most Americans just arent as interested in seeing happy kids at a new school as they are in seeing gruesome photos or steamy sex stories. Thats just the nature of the beast....

Would you all justify launching a nuke at Montana (or wherever McVeigh was from)? What is the difference?

What about the brave Saudi Security Forces officers who have risked (and in some cases lost) their lives trying to combat terrorism in their country? Nuke them as well?

Contrary to popular belief, Saudi Arabia is more like America than it is like Iraq.

I am angered as well....but...the Royal Family in Saudi Arabia is walking a fine line. Like it or not, this country and the world run on oil. SA has the largest oil reserves in the world. Imagine some crazies taking control of that oil. The US would be forced to take military action. The Saudi problem is extremely complex.

TIME TO SLAY THE BEAST THEN!!!

We need to change our ways and be excited when we hear about the miles and miles of water lines that have been built in Iraq where no running water has been before. We need to be celebrating the schools that have been reopened, rebuilt, built new and staffed so that the children of Iraq can get a proper education instead of constantly fearing for their lives. TIME FOR THE MEDIA TO STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN BEING A PART OF THAT CHANGE!!!
