I'm watching it on FOX News...have been crying too as Nancy was standing near the casket and and laying her head with her hand on the casket and then hugging her daughter...also the minister putting his arm around her.

I feel the same way ShawnGalvestonDuck wrote:*sigh*
I'm watching the procession into the Reagan Library. I thought I'd lose it when they started playing "Hail To The Chief" as they unloaded his casket from the hearse. And seeing Nancy just breaks my heart...I want to just reach out and hug her.

re:
Add my name to the list of those who thought very highly of the President he was, the human being he had become in his 93 years....
I'm flying our flag at half staff in his honour , and I encourage others to do so as well. ( some folks around here aren't.....grrr) anyhow....*sigh*.
Rest in Peace Mr. President

There have been several flags flying here on the island since Memorial Day. I was amazed to see how many people took time to lower them to half-staff yesterday. The very few I saw that weren't lowered were at banks or a few other businesses that weren't open and the flag poles had locks covering the cleats, so no one could have done it over the weekend, but I'm sure they're at HS now.

While I was home for lunch, I watched an episode of Third Watch that I'd taped just an hour earlier. Then I was going to watch yesterday's Days Of Our Lives and fast-forward through it to get the basic idea of what's happening. Found out that instead of DOOL, it was what I missed on the internet feed yesterday because NBC pre-empted Days.
I watched it and saw the parts I missed after their pastor spoke and when Mrs. Reagan went up to the casket and then hugged Patti. *sigh* I cried and cried...more than I've had a chance to cry yet.

Several of us will go down to the Capitol rotunda, probably late at night or early morning. I had extra admiration for him and Nancy's realtionship, warm yet never sappy and always caring and genuine. His best reference I think was on his strong negotiating yet flexibility he said "I would rather get 80% of what I want than go over the cliff with the flag in my hand" This is so true in all of life, business and personal, to be able to develop the quality and art of compromise.

Sorry to respond so late. I was out of town until a short while ago.
My condolences to the family and friends of the finest Former President and Leader of the Free World. President Reagan led this country to victory in the cold world and also started the process to bring Libya to it's knees. Well done, Mr. President. May you rest in peace.
