West Gulf wind shear?
Could someone explain what I am seeing on this map. Is is not showing favorable conditions in the west gulf in 36 hours as far as wind shear is concerned. http://www.wunderground.com/data/640x480/atlm_shear.gif

Wind shear in the W GOM is predicted to get down to very low levels over the next 24-36 hours(see maps in other thread). What is needed for sustained development is higher SST's and of course the right system to be present, ie, some sort of low pressure, which there isn't at this point. Our big problem over SE TX is going to be the feed from the S along with pulses coming in from the W colliding over or near our area and producing copius rains.

Never have thought much of that map..I would rather look at the tendency map for quality of data and look at the pattern from there. Usually the models will pick up on the system before I need to look at a forecasted shear map..Since that is the case you may as well go with tendency data. I don't think that map is to valuable..although I don't know much about how it is put together..
I like this data link for shear. It's notta model forecast but I think it's more reliable and relevant data.
