Gotta LOVE this Sheriff!

THIS CAME FROM A FRIEND IN NORTH CALIFORNIA OUT OF THEIR NEWSPAPER. BOY, DOES ARPAIO GET AROUND.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta LOVE this Sheriff!

TOO HOT FOR ARIZONA CONVICTS ???

It's even hotter than usual in Phoenix, 116 degrees sets a new record, the Associated Press reports:

About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before. Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their pink socks.

"It feels like we are in a furnace," said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the tents for 1 1/2 years. "It's inhumane."

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.

He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths. "

KIND OF PUTS THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE DOESN'T IT?

Speaking of this jail set-up...they ought to bring back the days of prison farm chain gangs...shackles, rock picks, etc. Instead of most penitentaries today being like a 'Club Med'...well, pick UP your picks and BREAK some ROCK, 'girls'! :grrr:

In every other aspect, this sheriff knows what it's all about...but I DO think that some thought should be given to the inmate's dietary needs. Nothing expensive, of course...but an occasional change from bologna is long overdue.

Arizona, and not just Maricopa County, DOES have Chain Gangs and not just for male convicts but for Females as well. For the teenagers who get sentenced to Adult Prison-guess what. Chain Gangs Baby.

Actually Bill, on Sundays I believe, he DOES feed them a half way decent meal, the rest of the time it's... "My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R, my bologna has a second name, it's M-A-Y-E-R. Oh, I love to eat it everyday and if you ask me why I'll saaaaaay, cuz Sheriff Joe has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A!"

Indeed Steve, I just saw on the news about 2 weeks ago where the "teenagers" are "Doing time on the Chain Gang!" ....what's that song? "That's the sound of the Men working on the Chaaaaain GaaaaAAng!"
