For those, like me, who used to wonder exactly what the heck and where in the atmosphere we were looking on certain models:
Altitude
Milllibars = Feet
(Standard Day conversion)
300 mb = 30,000 ft
500 mb = 18.000 ft
600 mb = 14,000 ft
700 mb = 10,000 ft
800 mb = 6,000 ft
850 mb = 5,000 ft
900 mb = 3,000 ft
1000 mb = Sea Level
mb conversion to feet
