HELP

#1 Postby yoda » Wed Jun 02, 2004 7:02 am

I am in the middle of an emotional breakdown.  I literally crashed last night when I found out stuff isn't done, my final for Marketing isn't half finished, and I am failing English after getting A's for the first three quarters. I know I need to take a deep breath, but it isn't quite working right now. I did have a very scary dream that scared the hell out of me lat night. I come to you guys to help me through. Please do so. I like you guys so much! :D I just need your guys help to help me through this rough time. I can't help myself right now, but I know not to do anything stupid....

Hang in there. :P Things will get easier and better. Sometimes things in life seem overwhelming but there is a Blue sky at the end of this emotional storm hanging over your head!! Take a deep breath and step back and reflect. Try to get what you can get done and you'll find yourself getting back into the swing of things in no time. God bless... :) BTW Bad Dreams are just that..don't let them get you down. When you have a lot on your plate sometimes those thoughts and worries manifest themselves into nightmares. Hang in there. Let us know if there is anything we can do to get y ou over this bump in the road of life!!

I will certainly try to Rainband. I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnrl, the fact is that I just can't seem to find it. It's like I am walking around in a dark room trying to find the light switch, and I can't find it. Its ok though.... I will try to work it out... Thanks for your support.

Matt - Johnathan is right, sometimes we can feel so overwhelmed with responsibilities, we just don't know where to start. Take a deep breath, make a list of what you have to do. And then do just these things. One at a time. Finish up your Marketing final, as much as you can. Instead of focusing how it's only half finished, just look at the work that needs to be done and just start. Next would be possibly talking to your English teacher. See if there is extra credit work you can do to pull the final grade up to a passing one. I always suggest my daughters talk to their teachers about concerns (they're 14 and 16). If they just sit in there in class, taking unclear/vague notes, confused or forgetting a deadline, they have only themselves to blame. When they have gone to a teacher, it sometimes works out well. Not all always but they have nothing to lose I always say. You see I never spoke up in HS, never asked questions, I was often confused. Turning in assignements barely on time. Barely got thru HS. Didn't go to college until age 30! Suddenly I realized the value in sitting in the front row, taking good solid notes, making charts/flashcards to study from, asking questions, seeing a teacher after class if something didn't quite make sense to me. Consequently I made the Dean's list 3 out of 4 semesters I took until age 32. So speak up, is my advice.

And finally, this is going to sound harsh - but turn off this computer!!! I know posting on message boards is a pleasant pastime, but it's possibly keeping you from getting this work done!!

Do I sound like a Mom? Sigh, can't help it. Once you're a Mom, you're always a Mom!!! LOL

Good luck.

Good advice Mary... but my Marketing final has to do with the computer. I am currently working on it. Your ideas are good and to the point. Thanks Johnathan and HeartofNC. That helps alot. I can tell I am calming down and getting things done. I knew I could count on you guys to help me out! :D

THANKS TO ALL! See you guys in a little bit after I get some work done :D

Matt - oops, I almost PM'ed you, seeing that you were still online. That Mom thing coming out again.....LOL

Yeah, that's hard to do I'm sure. Computers can be great tools but it's easy to get diverted. My oldest will sit down to write a paper and 15 minutes later, be playing the Sims. Ugh!

Once you finish your marketing final, sounds like you need to take a breather. Do something enjoyable. Whether it be reading a good book, taking a jog around the block, or taking a dive in the pool. Take some time for YOU and enjoy yourself. It's so easy to get caught up in everything that has to be done, and then never really stepping back and enjoying life. That's my advice, take some time for you. It does wonders for clearing your head. :)

Obstacles come along in our life for a reason. They serve as the point from which we measure the better days and the worse ones.

I've discovered that taking time for yourself...being a little selfish, is actually a healthful approach too.

Then again, it is not too hard to find someone who is struggling MORE than you in some ways. Giving a little support in that direction takes your mind off the problems you are facing. Bringing a smile or getting a handshake from someone else sure feels good when your own life is in the dumps.

Good luck on the finals...and remember, life is a journey. We take the good and bad that comes our way and learn something from each. What you do with those experiences is more important than the brief moments they take up in the bigger picture.

Matt....you have the tools to make it through. We know that..now you need the confidence to know that too.

Matt, I know how scary that can be. Take the wonderful advise of all your friends here. Take one thing at a time. Nothing is that bad!!!!! Just remember ONE THING AT A TIME!!!! Don't worry about anything else while you're working on that one thing!!! Don't get overwhelmed. It will all work out OK and to tell you the truth even if it doesn't, it's not the end of the world. You're OK and I know you can do it.
