Rude awakening

#1 Postby Rainband » Sun May 30, 2004 2:34 pm

I was on my way to work this morning..I saw tony left his windows down. I stopped and got out and started to put them up. I heard a beeping sound..Mind you I was half asleep and it wasn't until I saw the flames, before I realized what it was..a smoke detector. I was driving down my road and noticed the building across from my building was the source of the beeping..as it's corner upstairs apartment was on fire. I stopped the car . Ran up stairs dialed 911. I woke tony and ran down to the building. The lady said everyone was out of her apartment and she tried to alert the others I realized she was in shock. So to make sure everyone was out I ran from top floor to bottom banging on the doors and windows. Luckily..everyone got out safely. The cause of the fire..was the residents fault. Thats all I know to this point. I went to work and went about my day. On my return home.. I was amazed at the extent of the damage ...but even more amazed that none of the other units was damaged..save some smoke on the outside..Really good firewalls I guess.. I couldn't help thinking how blessed everyone is that no one was injured. The fire department and Police units did an Awesome Job!!! Like I said.. Thank God no one was injured!!!

I got a close up look today!!! The apartment is gutted. They said it was the tenants fault. I will find out tomorrow what the details are. I am going to start a collection in the front office and get her some money and clothes etc. We all make mistakes..I would never want to go through that!!
