I am not proud of our Christian Heritage. But I am so thankful that "you" all are nice enough to let me practice my faith.
But are you not proud, I am, that many of the founding precepts of our nation are rooted in goodness/godliness and that to a very large extent that spiritual footing has served us well.

"Common people"...farmers, coopers (barrel makers), coppersmiths, acrhitects, cobblers and printers...like the posters here... WROTE our Constitution. If you took the time to read the minutes and letters of those who were active in the framing of this instrument, you would plainly see the INTENT of each clause, paragraph and amendment...why, therefore, do "we, the people" need "interpretation"?
Any careful examination of the documents as described (and I have already done so many, many times) is enough to satisfy even the most cynical pursuivant. "Interpretation"? Indeed...

Interpret is a big word. Why not use converting the Constitution to their own liberal views and then liberals intepreting those same beliefs on a message board.

I have no problem with the practice of religion.
I just think it needs to stay out of our public institutions.
I want Christians to be able to practice unfettered.
I am proud of lots of our history.
Most notably that we welcome people of all faiths, races, and nationalities, and do not favor one over another.
Were some of our early leaders Christians? yes....and some were not.
But as to the notion that the US is a Christian nation?....I categorically rebuke it.
Freedom of religion and separation of Church and state are bedrock principles that will NEVER be undermined.

This Unites States is a melting pot for individuals from all different walks of life, in relationship to both cultural background and religious beliefs. And while myself or the next person may not agree with everyone's practices or ideals, our diversity is one of our nations STRONGEST assets, lets keep it that way.

Again..reasonable.Why not answer the kind gentleman from Rome instead of being defensive and possibly alienating an ALLY(Italianos)?
This is the USA..why not let general questions flourish?Let's be Ambassadors....and be 'Uniters...not Dividers' as Pres.Bush outlined.
BTW Paolo..I've been to Italy and France many times...and can find them on a map...much prefer Italy...esp the Mtns North...skiing dude!
