I'm registered independent. My wife is a registerd Democrat.

In the last election, I would have voted for Bush and my wife would have voted for Gore, so we would have cancelled. Next time I'm going to say that I'm going to the bar to pick up chicks, but really sneak to the polls.

For what it's worth, we're both members of S2K. I post and she doesn't. Just a coincidence.

Hey Bunch, complain all you want. That is your right!!! When you have done nothing to correct a problem, complaining seems rather, like a whining child to me. ACTION, that's how you correct something you feel is wrong. What type of actions are you taking to correct any of the problems that you feel we are having in the country?? Do you feel helpless and that you can't change anything???Complaining is not the answer. At least voting is a way for all of our small voices to be heard.

Actually, a total of 4 people so far (Pburgh, Linda, j, and weather53) have told me that I "don't have a right to complain."

Try again, Chad.

That's right. If you do not exericse your hard fought and won right to cast your opinion in the ultimate free thinking forumn aka the right to vote, then your piss*ing and moaning on a weather board is the lazy man's plaintive voice wailing in the night. Rant all you want about your rights, how about exercising some responsibilty, get out and express yourself where it really matters via the vote and quit your crying here.

Okay, Pburgh and weather53, tell me this:

What have I actually complained about, in regards to the President, or the government?

NOTHING.

You could point to my statement about the two current front-runners, but that's not a complaint, it's merely an observation on my personal opinion. nonetheless, read back through the thread. Not once have I made a complaint about the President or the government, nor have I said that I have any complaints about them.

Throughout this discussion, all I have been doing is defending my RIGHT to complain, something that several of you seem to think you can take away from me.

It began with my simple statement about how "I have never voted, due to a lack of interest in politics." I then explained briefly how this does not affect my rights as a citizen of the USA. Except for telling several of you that you cannot deny me my voice, I haven't made any specific complaints.

However, all you have been doing is trying to deny me my rights, and then when I wouldn't back down, you got nasty about it.

I can't help the fact that my rights to my opinions don't fit into your little plastic view of what the world should be. Telling me I don't have a right to anything, simply because I don't do what you want me to do is borderline fascism, and once again, NOT what this country is about.

Example: I stated previously that I have served in the military. I don't know who else here has served, or not served, but you don't see me making the comment "if you haven't served, then you don't have the right to [whatever]." That sort of comment wouldn't go over at ALL, so what makes your comments about my not voting any different?

Go back through ANY political debate thread on this board. As Fur said, I always steer clear of them. I reiterate: I've never made a complaint, nor do I have any. But, if I had a complaint, it is my RIGHT to voice it. The only way that will change is if they repeal the First Amendment.

It just boggles my mind that American citizens would attempt do deny the basic rights of other American citizens.

We would not wish to take away your right to whine and sound silly. We are simply pointing out that instead of whining and sounding silly there is something you can actually do which will make you far less of a powerless victim than you wish to feel to be; that is-get out and vote.
