Up here in Omaha, we were in one last July as a derecho-type system moved across the state. The thing was is that the system collapsed before reaching Grand Island.

They are definitely more rare than the tornado watch version.

Particularly Dangerous Situation. When a situation is labeled as a "PDS" , either on a risk or just for a particular watch, significant severe is expected. Large, long tracked tornadoes, very high winds and/or exceptionally large hail is what is expected to occur.

where's the MCS going?

#9 Postby Guest » Fri May 21, 2004 3:22 pm

I was looking at some data from yesterday, 18z gfs and mm5 both showed a very good indication of this potent MCS...check for yourself. the front is coming back as a warm front now through PA and NY and instibilities are right in line with those models...so PA, NY NJ, CT watch out tonight !!

Welcome to Storm2K Lightning Face!
I've never actually witnessed the infamous "green sky", but I've read that it's hail. I liken it to shoveling some really deep snow (the kind with high water content) and how there's that blue-green hue when you look deep into it. It makes sense to me that an updraft of ice against a dark gray background would appear green.

I've also read that during a tornado situation it could be from the greenery it devours.

Thanks!
I have seen the GREEN MONSTER twice and when the temp. drops that fast and the green wall is blowing toward you-
here are some photos I posted over at "my home" message board. The green color really didn't come out that well because of the cheap camera. Just imagine that it is the color of the fleshy part of a lime

Major damage in elm grove wva from a microburst friday morning around 530am. Government declaring it a disaster area. The storms were terrible. I was awake from 430-715 helping pump out my basement. First time it flooded. Creeks were flooded quickly.
