Toward the middle of this week, a young man in my son's 4th grade class was involved in a car accident. His sister had picked him and his siblings up from school. They had stopped to turn into their driveway, about half a mile from the school, when someone rearened their car. He was flown to Jackson, MS to the University Medical Center in critical condition. His brain was swelling. A couple of days ago it looked like he was going to get better. The swelling started to lessen, but then began to increase again.
He passed away today. My son is terribly upset about this. Please keep that family in your prayers. His name was Patrick Warden. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to lose one of your children!!

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts. I just spoke to my son's teacher. She was calling to let parents know about Patrick so that they could talk to their kids about it. She said the doctors told the parents today that he was brain dead so they took him off of the ventilator.
She also mentioned that Patrick sat in the desk next to my son in their class. They only have Monday and Tuesday left in school, but I'm sure that this is going to make their last two days very difficult.
It's been one of those kind of days here. At my daughter's graduation this afternoon, they paid tribute to one of their classmates who died in an auto accident in February. We found out about Patrick just before we went to the graduation. Talk about one of those days you need lots of tissue!
Again, thanks for your prayers and thoughts. I'm sure that family must be going through pure hell right now.
