Hou/Galvers: Start of year Hurricane season party!!!

#1 Postby Houstonia » Fri May 21, 2004 2:40 pm

Sorry for X-postings... I'm posting on off-topic board.

Well, it's that time of the year when Houstonia pulls out her party hat and beckons all Houston/Galveston Hurrican watchers to come out and celebrate the begining of hurricane season!!

This year, June 1st falls on a Tuesday. I would rather NOT meet up during the week.

Shall we arrange a get-together the 1st Saturday or Sunday of Hurricane Season? That would be June 5 or June 6

That gives y'all TWO WEEKS to make your plans to join us. We only had TWO people show up at the good-bye party last fall--let's ring in the season with more people this year!!

As always, email me at Houstonia@ev1.net (or leave a message for me here) with your ideas for eating places/rsvps/questions/etc.

thanks!

Right now it looks like the vbhoutex clan will be absent.     We have prior engagements June 5 and more than likely June 12, both out of town. If we can't make it PARTY HEARTY anyway!!! :D

Well, we are doing the Hurricane Workshop on the 25th. Perhaps that can be our start of season get together?

hurricane workshop

#8 Postby Houstonia » Mon May 24, 2004 9:47 am

Yeah... I am not going to be able to make it to the workshop this year. I work until 6 pm and all the way across the county from the workshop location.

If y'all want to use that for the get-together, that would be great, but I won't be able to make it. :-/

Let me know if y'all want to meet on a weekend though... :-)

June 6?

#9 Postby Houstonia » Mon May 24, 2004 9:53 am

How about June 6? It's a Sunday. Would anyone be available for a get-together on Sunday afternoon?

We don't HAVE to meet in Galveston if more people could make it in Houston somewhere. (Galveston is just more fun for me. :-))

Anyway, let me know your thoughts...

I'm ok with Sunday afternoon as well. Gives me an excuse to cruise down to Galveston, which I love anyway.

Sunday afternoon the 6th should work for me and the spouse, if she wants to come along. The next weekend is definitely out as we will be out of town.

June 6th is basically the only weekend this summer that is bad for me. I am going to a family reunion in Atlanta on the 4th and won't be back till the 7th.

bump/location/time ideas?

#14 Postby Houstonia » Thu May 27, 2004 3:26 pm

Is Galveston Duck still out there?

Well, the feedback for a get-together looks to be pretty low. Last fall there was only two of us. I'm about ready to turn in my party hat unless y'all really want to try to have a get-together.

Lemme know your thoughts.

thankee

Hi Houstonia!

I really wanted to make it last year, but just couldn't... but I can do Sunday the 6th, as long as it's in the Galveston/Bay Area and someplace my little boy is welcome!

Don't give up yet... even two people can be a party! :)

Well, I liked the place from last year...

Shrimp N more... Shrimp N stuff... something like that.

Inexpensive
casual (VERY casual)
family friendly
easy to find
outdoor patio

What do y'all think?

Oh, and maybe we should make it sometime in the middle of June since OtherHD can't join us on the date we suggested?

What Sundays are good for y'all?

Yup, still here.

Not sure yet about what's good for me. Still recuperating from this weekend. :)

I'll check back. I might have to miss the June bash and wait for the end-of-season party.
