I am so angry with myself......
I was walking our dog on a gravel walking trail and going down a hill. Slipped and turned my right ankle! The ankle I broke years ago!!! I knew as soon as I went down, I did some real damage this time. A little history, I have weak ankles for some odd reason. I've been spraining my ankles for decades now. Some were funny times - while wearing high heels at a company dinner, yes I usually wore nurse's type shoes at the medical office. I can't walk in high heels!!! Once I stumbled down our stairs when Nina was a baby, she landed on my lap and giggled, as if to say - let's do that again Mommy! Turns out my brothers have weak ankles too - go figure.
Well, anyway, please say a few prayers for me that this is a slight sprain. Something I know how to treat - ice it off and on, elevate it, wear a bandage when out. And wouldn't you know it, I have a school meeting in 2 hours, tomorrow is Laura's birthday and also Nina's ballet recital! When it rains it really downright POURS!
I'm just having a pity party for myself....I'll snap out it. Other reason I'm so upset is the fact that our health insurance co-pays have nearly tripled in 3 years. And we need to have xrays and diagnostic testing done at "Independent Imaging Centers" (did you hear my sarcastic tone when I typed that term, LOL) now, if we want them covered. Otherwise it all goes towards our deductible, which is $1000 bucks for each of us!!!
I know there are others worse off than this. Gee, 5 years ago my life was on the line (my past cancer) but it just plain blows I did this!!! My poor dog was so sweet, very concerned for me. I somehow got home, we had to walk so slowly. She loved that, Hope got to sniff everything in sight. No more walks for her, for a while. At least not from Mommy!

I'm so sorry about your ankle! At least you didn't re-break it. No time is a good time for an ankle sprain. Maybe someone is trying to tell you to SLOW DOWN!!!
Medical insurance and copays are definately getting out of hand.
I'm sure that Hope is trying to comfort you right now. Aren't pets the greatest?

You all are wonderful friends - do you know that? Well, I'm doing okay. Swelling is minimal and it's painful. But I'm resting it in between committments I just can't get out of! I can really rest it at 8 tonight. And believe me I will be in bed at that point. Goodnight family!!!
I keep comparing this to the time I broke my ankle. That time, it was the size of a softball, it didn't even look like an ankle. This time, it's swollen to the size of a golf ball and only in one spot. The pain worries me though. It's there. But I can walk. I just won't do any dancing for a while. LOL Or walking the dog, cutting the lawn, etc. Good thing I don't have one of those old fashioned mowers (see my other thread) - b/c my kids may have to pitch in and if I did, they'd protest!
And yes Stephanie - pets are wonderful when you're hurt. Hope has been very sweet. She knows I'm down and out right now, but she still gives me that look as if to say - well, okay we'll rest now, but as soon as you're up for it, we're outta here! Dogs.....oh I'm such a dog lover now, in addition to being a cat lover too. Now if I could just borrow someone's cat to purr in my lap....anyone have a sweet kitty to loan out? he he
Karan - thanks for the tea.
I'd love to thank each and everyone of you by name but I gotta run to that dance rehearsal. Geez Louise, I want summer to be here so we have some downtime!!!
