Atlanta man struck and killed by lightning today

#1 Postby Brent » Mon May 17, 2004 10:37 pm

A 34-year-old man was struck and killed in the Atlanta suburb of Dunwoody this afternoon during a freak thunderstorm. He was installing a pool at the time and died instantly from a direct hit. :(

I saw that story on the news last night. It is definitely not a common occurence in GA. Anyway, we had some bad lightning around this area, and the storms really didn't move much at all. Definitely a sad story to hear about!

Those afternoon storms are very wicked(lots of lightning, torrential rain, and they don't move very fast). We're expecting more today.

We just had one here in the Sylacauga area. Torrential rain, lightning and some wind. Another afternoon of outflow infulenced storms. Maybe they won't be as dangerous as the one the GA man experienced. :(
