Not too abnormal for Florida to be this dry in May. The more humid days have been on the increase which is common, too. The wet season starts in a week and a half.

The rains usually get started when the easterlies are in full swing and that shouldn't be too long, Boca. That said, however, I still remember the horrific dry spring and summer of '99 (think it was '99) and all the Florida fires.

The shift in easterlies is a good sign the tropics are getting stirred up, too.

Those fires in 1999 were nuts. I remember driving on the I-10 from Baker County to Jacksonville and a major stretch of whatever county is between them (Nassau?) had burned out road-forest. It was comical because just as we were driving through that area, one of the most torrential downpours I've ever had the privilege of driving in popped up for 5-10 minutes. EVERYONE pulled over to the shoulder and just waited.

FWIW, Here's the current drought monitor. They update every Thursday.

Not a problem db. If you go to their homesite, they have some pretty cool movies (long term and short term) that span up to 12 weeks.
