Sumner and Harper Co OK Tornadoes of 5-12-04

#1 Postby Brett Adair » Thu May 13, 2004 10:49 am

Last evening it seems that some friends of mine from Norman, Justin Gibbs and Randy Bowers, ran across a large wedge tornado in southern Kansas. This was Justin's first tornado that he had witnessed from what I am told and he was definately freaking out. I will try to have pics and possibly some video uploaded on here later on today guys.

Did you guys see the video on TWC of the farmhouse being blown apart? Man, I hope no one was in there!

No one was in there. That house was under construction at the time, thank goodness. But given the strength of this home, an F4 rating was given for this tornado with winds of 207-260 mph.

Thankfully no one was injured despite the fact that 3 homes were destroyed.

That tornado didn't recieve the F-4 rating. The tornado shown was in Attica, KS. The F-4 was just SE of Harper. I'll have you guys some maps soon.
