Who are you?

#1 Postby Guest » Wed May 12, 2004 4:45 pm

You've got to love the internet. You can be anyone you want to be. You can try on a new personality. Maybe even keep it up offline if it fits you well. Not that I'm saying anyone is not who they appear to be. But you never know. So not speaking about the internet, but when you are with your family and coworkers and friends offline, who are you? Are you the comedian, the ring leader, the serious one, the quiet one, the intellectual, the troublemaker, etc?

Me, I'm very assertive in situations where I know everybody. So I guess that can make me the ring leader at times. But when I don't know anyone in the group that I am in, I'm the quiet one, just trying to take it all in. When I'm online though, I never go through that "quiet" period. ;)

I am pretty much what my posts show. I am very passionate with issues and situations I care about. I am a true friend and very loyal. I always try to find the good in a person or situation. I am the glass is half full vrs..half empty. Most of you know I post my opinion and feelings without thinking of what anyone thinks and if I come across wrong sometimes...I apologise. I try to be myself. I hope that answers your question Jen. BTW excellent post!!! :)

I am also a ring leader and very outspoken offline as I am online. I also have the rare ability to put people in their place while offline. I would never do that online though. I am very open minded off and online but will defend to the end if I feel I am right whether I am typing or speaking. lol.

My Mother will tell you I am the only hell she has ever raised. LOL!!

Really good post!!!

I don't know, I guess I'm a Mom most of the time. I love nurturing, helping and understanding. Now like most Mom's I'm also very strong willed and sometimes can be a pain in the butt. I am honest, sometimes to a fault, and will defend the values that I believe in and and have been taught. Deception, dishonesty and lack of loyalty makes me furious. I will defend my family and friends no matter what it takes. By the way, I love Jesus and he loves me !!!!! Oh, he love you too!!!!! :D

I'm a peace loving, kindhearted person who wants the best for everyone. I'm easily hurt by abrasive, unkind remarks. I'm considered an intellectual by most people I know.

I'm a nerd with a sense of humor....online, and
offline. People think I'm weird because I like
things like severe weather, paleontology,
astronomy, and such. I'll be the first to make
some kind of goofy comment, even inappropriately
at times, to keep a laugh going. I guess I'm
a bird with strange feathers!

I am a fun loving, sometimes intellectually boring person. I love talking current events, politics, speech/debate, drama, or weather. I have been told that I am very mature for my age.

I'm a "take charge" kinda guy, want something done, have ME do it! I don't put up with ANYBODY'S B.S. stories, tell 'em like it is. This is the outside, on the inside, I'm a VERY compassionate person, loving, caring, willing to help ANYONE who needs ANYTHING (well, within REASON LOL!).....I love my family, I LOVE my wife and I kinda *like* my dogs!

Even more forthright that I am online. Of course my life is tropical meteorology, though I also am very passionate about sports and politics. Dont have the chance to paricipate as much as I'd like, unfortunately

Seems like you would be less forthright, despite you online time being curtailed. Oh well.

Basically I am a shy person. I don't like confrontations but when push comes to shove, I will shove.
I love nurturing and taking care of my children when they were small.
I love to have fun but I like my quiet times, too
People think I am "crazy" because I love stormy weather and hurricanes. But I know, you all understand! :)

I am a nice friendly person that likes to look at things with an open mind. I also like to speak my mind. I tend to get nervous when speaking in public...thats probably my worst trait. I am young, and still learning. I'm very loyal, but no pushover. Not really sure what I am gonna do after college...should get that underway?! I keep my friends and especially my family very close. I would do anything for them. I don't like following the crowd...unless i agree with their motives.

A young blonde about 28!

Oops, Jenn, I thought you asked who I want, not who I was.

Actually, the real me is what you get here on the Front Porch. I am generally not the most sociable in a crowd, but can be comfortable among both paupers and princes. My best friends are my two sons and my wife. I have many wonderful acquaintances, however, who I count among my treasures.

Other than my sons, I have not "gone out with the guys" since I was in my early 30's....and then it was a rare occasion. I prefer a project or two at home, and take more pride in watching and encouraging others to succeed than I do in worrying about my own relative successes.

I'm a "do'er" not a "talker" so I immerse myself in community or other projects where I can make a difference. I never take life so seriously that it bogs me down for hours on end, but I also never take life and love for granted. Those are wonderful gifts to be appreciated EVERY day.

I don't get second looks from the ladies (or the men), but those who really know me admire my ethics and who I am. I'm the go-to guy when things are falling apart. I usually laugh in the face of a miserable situation and help others who might be in tears to lighten up as well. As bad as things can get, such things are always relative to something worse.

I've enjoyed and appreciated every age I have been...now approaching 60 in a couple of years, I'm sure those years will be the best yet as these have also been.

God is very much alive in me...and his gifts to this world are awe inspiring. I see them more and appreciate them more with each passing day.

I am boring by many standards...prefer the safety net to risk.

My wife tells me if she hadn't married me she would have been married and divorced at least three times over. Not sure what that says about me...but it speaks volumes about my precious and spirited Irish partner.

I suppose the best way to describe me is as an ancient Celt/Viking "warrior/poet"; I am well-educated, have a VERY soft heart for women, children and animals, but...at the same time, I can be VERY assertive, even aggressive, when necessity dictates.

I have known war, poverty, want...and I have dined in the modern equivalent of the palaces of kings. I have known abuse, and kindness; loss, and the value of true friendship. I work best alone, but those around me often choose to follow me; I have been either "president, chairman, commander, commissioner", or "director" of every organization I have ever had the pleasure of serving within.

As to my posts, what you read IS what I feel...no need to "gild the lily", sometimes blunt, sometimes waxing eloquent. All of it is "me".

You asked...there I am.

Quite frankly, it depends on what kind of mood I happen to be in...if I'm angry, look out! But generally, what ya see is what you get.

I'm..........giddy, smiley, full of energy, patient, devoted, caring, loving, understanding, sometimes moody and/or emotional, always willing to help, there when I'm needed and sometimes when I'm not, dorky, aggresive, passionate, fun-loving me!

So pretty much I am the way you know me! A few things you wouldn't know from the computer screen are that I have a problem with eye contact (and goodness I try every day to get over it, mostly with higher ups like bosses, or someone that I am attracted to, lol), and I am very hard to offend- you can say anything to me and I will take it with a grain of salt. However, the one mistake that should never be made is saying something rude about friends or family, anyone I love- that will make my unattractive, red-headed demon side shine through and I promise you don't want to see it!
