I found the pic of Joan on the Internet around September 2002. I had done a google search. I printed out the picture and added it to my collection.

A month later, the pic and site were gone. I guess I was lucky to have printed out the pic.

Well, it was a small pic, so I recently scanned it and enlarged it on my computer. Unfortunately, since it can only be found on my computer, I can't upload it here. (I think the forum rules are that the pic has to be located somewhere on the web.)

Otherwise, I'd load it here. I also have a satellite (yes, I said satellite) pic of Hurricane Donna from 1960. I found it in a book on Florida hurricanes. Considering it's from 1960, the quality is rather good. Like Joan, I'd share this pic with you if I could. But I can't.

Unless somebody has an idea of how I would be able to.

This pic is a real treat! It has 8 tropical systems! Hurricanes Beulah, Chloe, and Doria in the Atlantic; Tropical Storms Monica and Nanette in the eastern Pacific; Typhoons Opal, Ruth, and Sarah in the western Pacific. (No, they don't all have eyes. Those are black dots just indicating where each storm is.)

This really is a great collection. Can anyone find any sat pics from Hurricane Juan of 1985? I believe that one made 3 landfalls in Louisiana but I can't ever remember seeing satellite pictures of it.

Nice collection, Hurricane Bill. You are right about Gordon. He single handedly caused like 1000 deaths. There are a few storms that should've been retired. All of those storms were so organized. Andrew was a doughnut!

From 1991-1995, there was an unusually long-lasting El Nino. After a record-breaking number of named storms in 1990, the Atlantic had 4 consecutive seasons below average. When the El Nino ended in 1995, the Atlantic roared back with a vengeance(sp?). The 1995 hurricane season was probably the most memorable hurricane season in recent memory.

We were only a few days into the season when we already had our first hurricane! In her only appearance as a hurricane, Hurricane Allison from 1995!

Erin was the first hurricane to strike Florida after Andrew. Hurricane Erin showed how quickly a hurricane threat could develop by flaring up off the Florida coast in 1995.

Here's Hurricane Cesar. Cesar was only the 3rd Category 1 hurricane to be retired. The other two are Hurricane Agnes (1972) and Hurricane Klaus (1990).

1997 had a strong El Nino and it took its toll on the Atlantic. Of the 7 named storms, only 3 became hurricanes. Danny was the only storm to make landfall anywhere.

Despite what the title of this pic says, Bill had briefly achieved hurricane status at this point. Here's Hurricane Bill from 1997.

The Atlantic had already put out 4 named storms by mid July. From the looks of it, you'd think 1997 would be similar to 1995 and 1996. But then El Nino quickly took over.
