Dixie chicks still in hot water!!!
Moderator: S2k Moderators
Actually being a DJ for years and years I can honestly say there are more people out there who either could care less about the Dixie Chicks, or if they did, they have differing views on them and how they carry themselves now. I think there's way more fans that will be thinking twice now over their music....I hear people bashing them all the time locally here and in the music stores. She screwed up and an apology wont pull them out of the doghouse. Remember if you cant say anything nice about someone, you're better off saying nothing.

I erased my previous post after I saw what she said. I don't think it was the right thing to say at all especially in this crucial time we are in. I support Bush 100% and am very peeved about her statementsoutherngale wrote:Rainband wrote:I honestly don't even know what they said. My point is They are entitled to their opinion just as everyone is..even if it's wrong. Thats what being free is all about and what we are fighting this war for in the first place. Don't anybody forget thatwx247 wrote:No Southerngale...I didn't see it didn't bother me. I think it was wrong for Natalie to criticize, especially overseas. Where I find the problem is that their music is suffering! I will continue to listen to the Dixie Chicks.
Here is another case-in-point! I paid 48.00 last night to go see Toby Keith and I don't have the same political views as he does, even though he spewed it out in full force last night! I respected his right to speak.
The music shouldn't suffer.![]()

Rainband...it goes beyond that. Of course they are entitled to their opinion but what they said was disgraceful to our country. That's a different story in my eyes, and clearly many others.
This is what they said:
"Just so you know," says singer Natalie Maines, "we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
In a follow-up quote from The Dixie Chicks, Maines was quoted as saying: "We've been overseas for several weeks and have been reading and following the news accounts of our governments' position. The anti-American sentiment that has unfolded here is astounding. While we support our troops, there is nothing more frightening than the notion of going to war with Iraq and the prospect of all the innocent lives that will be lost."
Maines further stated, "I feel the President is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view."

I am not going to post further on this issue. We all have our opinions, I think we have stated them, and nothing we say will change each other's minds. I respect each of your opinions, and even though I tend to semi-disagree with you if you ever put out a cd of music... I will buy it!
