Maybe some action around these parts tonight...

#1 Postby tomboudreau » Thu May 06, 2004 4:05 pm

By looking at the latest data from the storm prediction center and a close up look at the data from a weather service I subscribe to, we could be in for some storms this evening. Here is a close up look at what could happen this evening for my area.

Image

The yellow line is the slight risk area from SPC.

Image

The green line is the 2% chance of tornadoes.

Image

The pink line is the 15% chance of Severe Hail while the blue line is the 5% chance.

Image

The yellow line is the 25% chance of damaging winds and the pink line is the 15% chance of damaging winds.

Might be a night for chasing tonight if things come together. Pittsburgh also has a special weather statement out mention the chance of severe weather. Now, time will tell what we get and what we dont get.

I was just looking at this Tom and like you i am on the line and have a chance for some of this action later today and more so(Ofcourse grrrr) tonight. Temps now across this area are in the low 80s (83 here) but the dews are in the low to mid 50s. Wouldnt mind seeing them come up some for a better shot at some of the severe stuff. Seems like so far this year some ingrediant is missing or the storms come thru at night. Not so great for the chasers out there. But good for those who dont care for this sort of thing and thier property.

I think we will see some scattared severe action later today across southern Michigan and into northern Ohio/Indiana and northern/Western PA and then move south tonight with the front towards the i70 corridor which is where i expect the front to get hung up for a few days or so. Main threats should be the damaging winds and Hail and maybe some isolated Tornadoes.
