As I understand it, the 6 people who did this were ordered to do so at a very low level...non-commissioned (SGT-CMS) at highest. Upper echelons were unaware of it (13 of these have also been detained), but IMHO should be held culpable as well, at least within the IMMEDIATE chain-of-command.

One other thing...these MPs were NOT "correctional specialists", nor were they given explicit traning in Geneva Convention caveats re: POWs; they were the military equivalent of "beat cops", whose job it was merely to TRANSPORT them to interrogations. This training omission should also be addressed by the investigating authorities.

I think it's very shameful for the people involved to have done this and I hope they are all prosecuted by the military. I think it should also be commanding officers involved in the punishment. People like this put the lives of all coalitoin military men and women at risk. No wonder the world hates us - we are country with absolutely no morals.

Sorry....Thats just plain bs :roll: The actions a a few do not determine the morality of a country. While I agree the actions by those accused were in bad judgment. I do understand the reasoning behind them. We live in a Post 911 era and maybe things need to change. Maybe we need to start shooting these cowardice, evil murders on sight :x If your looking for a group with no morals. Look at the terrorists. Plain and simple!! In my eyes They have NO RIGHTS!!!!

I don't think we can let a few bad apples represent the whole country, Janswizard. It wasn't right what they did, but we are not a country without morals.

This is my opinion about us abusing the Iraqi's..

I am sure none of you have forgot {and if you have that what planet are you on} what happened to a fine young woman named Jessica Lynch last year.

She was so badly beaten and abused that she may not even be able to have children. This is my opinion about us abusing the Iraqi's..

I don't mean to sound cold hearted.. but PAYBACK is a ***** sometimes. Iraqi's deserve this because they are really a bunch of scum and don't deserve to be treated respectfully {at least not all of them..}

I know we have a code of ethics and morals to follow, but this story really doesn't need to be made as much hoopla as it is.

You may now slap me around if you think that opinion sounded senseless lol :lol:

The latest reports, these from FoxNews, indicate that the enlisted men/women were ordered to "soften up" the prisoners by frustrated Army Intelligence people of officer rank.

If this is borne out, these are violations of both the Uniform Code of Military Justice AND the Geneva Convention, Article XII; therefore, we should, and I hope WILL prosecute those responsible, from the PFCs to the commanding General assigned, to the utmost penalties allowed by military justice...and those ain't pretty! :grrr:

We need to show that the United States Armed Forces are NOT foreign clones of Saddam's thugs, and let this message be sounded loudly to all pertinent parties.
