Still I rise...

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Tue May 04, 2004 1:23 pm

Just thought of this a few minutes ago..

As I took a bus ride through St. Cloud today.. I saw 3 gas stations with OVER $2 a gallon for premium.

There is a Shell station who's price is at $2.04!
There is a Chevron station who's price is $2.01!
There is also a Hess station who's price is $2 even!

Gasoline prices are continuing to skyrocket.. I never thought I'd see a day where even for Premium, you'd be paying over $2 a gallon

My car is an old 1992 Sentra, and boy, I don't have to fill it too often. Yes, it has very little pick up, but I hate paying OPEC outragous amounts of money.

Oh John.....sigh, I can remember my friends and I chipping in a buck or two to get a few more gallons when I was a teen. All true. The lowest I remember gas was $.34 a gallon. First time I typed that I forgot the decimal....LOL It came out $34, yikes, we'll never get that high will we? Sorry but just had to give you my early memories of driving and honestly being able to drop a buck or two on the counter, and that could get you to and from the weekend HS game (not to mention all the friends I had to pick up, drop off, going out for pizza afterwards, and of course, cruising around). LOL

Heck, $2 doesn't even get you a gallon of milk!

Mary,, didn't I just see something in a store the other day that the price of milk might be about to skyrocket? lol

I swore I saw a flyer that said milk prices might actually go up as much as 50 cents.

We haven't seen those prices yet, but I didn't think we'd get this close either!

Milk for a gallon here is $3.09 where I shop.

The average unleaded gas price here is probably around $1.84

I also remember several years ago, a truckstop in GA off I95 near the state line offered gas at 79 cents a gallon...and this is since I've been an adult...

I remember sometime in the past 6 years when I saw it for under a dollar. I think one station even had it at $.89/gallon
