I didn't vote for the then-President when I served in RVN; I did so for the United states, and for the freedom of people who would otherwise have been crushed by tyrannical outsiders.

I wasn't rich, not drafted...but, then as now, I prefer to ACT when the snakes rear their ugly heads, whether overseas or at home. This is what induced me to become a police officer afterwards, an artist soon after that, then a teacher/fraternalist/civic organizational member.

The war was different, but the same message is still crystal clear to me.

This "cartoon" IS disgusting, far beyond my poor efforts to describe without resorting to unacceptable terminology. :grrr:

Why we pulled Monday's Ted Rall cartoon
Item did not meet MSNBC standards of fairness and tasteMSNBC.com pulled a cartoon by syndicated political cartoonist Ted Rall on Monday.

Rall’s cartoon, distributed widely by United Press Syndicate to scores of newspapers and Web sites, concerned the late Pat Tillman, the NFL player who quit football to join the Army. Tillman was killed last month in Afghanistan.

The cartoon, like others on MSNBC.com, is published daily on the site via an automated syndication feed. Such feeds are rarely reviewed. However, MSNBC.com Editor in chief Dean Wright concluded Monday’s Rall item did not meet MSNBC.com standards of fairness and taste.

Its an editorial cartoon. Its supposed to be appalling and attention grabbing. If they were trying not to offend anyone then they might as well restrict us to what we can draw. Its not just msnbc...these cartoons go in many newspapers. These artists can draw whatever they please. It is up to the reader to make a big deal about it.

That's right...its a free country..you can say whatever you want...or not say anything if that is what you choose to do. However.....be prepared to suffer the consequences of your actions. Just ask the likes of giants like Pepsi (using Ludicrus as a spokesperson), or CBS, which thought a disgusting disrespectful movie about a beloved dieing President was a great idea. Ask the Dixie Chicks (although I'm quite sure they would stand behind their hateful remarks). The list goes on and on.

JQ...not to single you out....but...the theme you always seem to back is one of extreme Liberalism. This is a theme that you are entiltled to back just as I am free to be a staunch conservative.

I suspect that when you mature and have children out there in the big bad anything goes world that you presently promote, your views may soften some. Although I was never what I would consider "Liberal", once I had a child of my own, my views changed drastically. I have seen this change all around me as well, as people I have grown up with have gone through the muturing process.

In summary....I hold hope for you. :)
