He was convicted of obstruction of justice, but got out of the main charge.

Will be hard to do with the same evidence that hung this jury. If he appeals the other convictions he will probably get off scott free from that too. How can they convict someone of witness tampering for a crime that did not happen. They acquitted him of it therefore he did not committ the crime. Sad, but true. :(

How was this special treatment? The government failed to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt he was guilty.

cant agree. he was holding a shotgun, drunk, pointed it, and it went off. personally i think he committed murder and it was intentional. but to say he wasnt guilty of reckless homicide was ridiculous.
by the way, he is going to get probation. no jail time

Doubt he will get that for at least two years because of the appeals of what he did get convicted of. The government failed and the jury saw it as an accident. Thank his attorney for actually swaying the jury that way.

He will face 15 years in prison if he is retried on the wreckless manslaughter charge. The jury was hung on that one and the government can then choose to retry it. Will they? I am sure they will.

I was watching Court tv today and they said that the jury was 8-4 in favor of NOT guilty on the wreckless manslaughter charge. The commentators on Ctv were saying that it might not be as easy to convict with this jury coming out like that.

You are right Helen. And he will more than likely be non adjudicated which means after he is done paying restitution and serves his probation his record will be cleared of everything.

YEP, they will just sweep the dead guy in the trash. and the reason why the family isnt upset is simple. on fox they said williams signed a secret settlement with the family for big bucks in a civil suit. williams gets off and the family gets rich. who cares about 1 dead guy?
