My own hurricane forecast... first time try!

#1 Postby yoda » Wed Apr 14, 2004 7:59 am

I hope this is okay how I am doing this, as I am going to try my hand at forecasting how many hurricanes this fall. I do not really understand much about the stuff you guys discuss with hurricanes, but I am learning... that's a good thing! :D

My forecast... 13/7/3

I do not know how much research you have put into that or if you just pulled numbers out of the hat, but it could easily verify. Imo, it is probably low, at least on the total. Most indicators do point to an active season, but it definitely is a good first try. did you base it on anything in particular?

Yoda good numbers you have posted as the season looks to be an above average one but if you want you may post those numbers at the poll I am doing about the forecasts from the members.

I did some research. I looked at Gray's prelim numbers, checked the average over the past 20 years, and then made my own guess. I have heard some rumblings of an weak El Nino, but that would be interesting.... otherwise, besides that, I made a lovely educated guess...
