Ever so slowly it is moving in an Easterly direction. Looks like the probability of flooding rains for much of the Peninsula over the next 48 hours or so if it continues as intense and slow as it is now. Of course those storms have to stop disapating as the approach shore(which it appears they have been so far).

Our locals and our forecast say the whole area will move east other the night and tuesday morning. The possibility for more heavy rain and gusty winds exist over nightvbhoutex wrote:Ever so slowly it is moving in an Easterly direction. not necessarily... it is a large cloud mass over the GOM right now and is not moving... I have seen it happen just like this many times... Although it is April and not likely, everyone said that it would not happen last year this early, and I think we had a tropical storm out there around this week... I could be mistaken... If the front were to lift out and leave it behind and the conditions improved, hey anything is possible in the tropics as of late...

Ohh yea.. I agree... It still is a good topic for debate here... I know by looking at the lightning returns, there is plenty of cold air with it.... But hey, stranger things have happened... lol...

Thanks for all the replies and info. I know June 1 is the OFFICIAL season opening, but hey, what with Ana last spring and Caterina a few weeks ago, nothing is beyond the realm of possibility
I wasn't commenting on "severe weather," but rather on the tropical status of the GOM as the season approaches. A valid concern, I believe.
