Local topography of Brazil?

#1 Postby MGC » Sat Mar 27, 2004 11:33 pm

Is the area where the Brazilian Hurricane is coming ashore flat or mountainous? As the area has not been hit by a hurricane in recorded history, I have no clue as to what the local population will endure tonight? Is it flat therefore subject to storm surge or is the area hilly and flash flooding will be the greatest concern. The Brazilians sure did write this event off as no big deal. I just hope this rare event don't result in a historic loss of life due to the indifference of local weather professionals.........MGC

I know there is mountainous terrain in the area, as far as the immediate coastline I am not sure.
