But Bush also keeps saying we don't need anyone to agree w/us. We can do it alone. So let's do it. This is going on way to long. Most American's are getting tired of the stall tactics. IF WE ARE GOING TO DO IT, LET'S DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're right! Bill Clinton did NOTHING when the US was repeatedly attacked. Oh excuse me, he did send some cruise missiles to destroy some tents.....

rainstorm wrote:but surrendering our security to the un is the wrong thing. imagine if john kennedy had ran to the un in 62 during the cuban missile crisis and asked them to take care of the problem. cuba would have had nuclear missles aimed at us and russia would have seen how weak we were. george bush says our national security is threatened. i agree!! if bush really believes what he says, then just get the job done. unfortunately, the precedent has now been set that we need un approval to act in our national security interests. no matter what happens now, the damage has been done.

Obviously you care to apply a simplistic read on complex events. You must have gone to the same school of logic and reason that Derek did. You throw around words like "surrendering" and "run to the UN" yet back them up with no logical assessment of the situation. You also point to the Cuban Missile Crisis but what about the Bay of Pigs? That same President abandoned people to slaughter because he withheld promised support.

What Bush has done is place over 250,000 US troops in position to squash Saddam if the UN won't enforce their own resolutions. Asking them to enforce their own resolutions was the correct thing to do. If they fail to do so then he will act in whatever means he feels is in the best interest of the US. Rest assured on that!

Derek...c'mon. Please use a little logic.

I think bfez makes a great point:

"Bush also keeps saying we don't need anyone to agree w/us. We can do it alone. So let's do it. This is going on way to long. Most American's are getting tired of the stall tactics. IF WE ARE GOING TO DO IT, LET'S DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

If this drags on much longer you will probably see Bush's favorability drop even farther.
