Garrett - I know Ma Nature does her own little thing. I do believe that the odds of a "big one" occurring keep increasing as each year passes by - but like everyone said, it doesn't mean it'll happen this year. Still, just before the new tropical season gets started, people living from the Gulf Coast to Maine are constantly reminded about what they need to do when a hurricane is approaching. Time and time again the mets remind us that we should not get complacent because this may be the year.

Since 2004 in nearly in the books, I thought I'd revisit my 2004 forecast that I posted back in Feburary. My bigest miss was the number of major hurricanes. I predicted 2 so I was way low. But, I don't know anyone that predicted as many majors as there were. I predicted 7 hurricanes and actual to date has been 8. My prediction of a major hurricane hitting a major city nearly came to pass. With near misses by Charley, Ivan and Jeanne. Damage predictions of billions was accurate though. As predicted, a weak El Nino has developed, squashing TC activity late in the season........MGC
