Well, here are mine:

1 Kucinich Score       100%
2 Kerry Score             91%
3 Sharpton Score       81%
4 Edwards Score        80%
5 Bush Score              72%
6 Dean Score              68%

Does everyone understand every single issue completely?

Bush... 5% :P

Hmm, for you guys that got 100% match with Bush you must have supported prayer in public schools... no comment ;-)

I'll comment. :)

No doubt about it! It is OBVIOUS that it's needed. Besides, you should be allowed to pray wherever you want, especially in school. Geesh, kids need all the positive influence they can get! I still can't imagine why anyone would be against it.

I agree with you, Kelly. However, if someone doesn't believe in something, it obviously can't be forced.

Well I took the question as "do you support ORGANIZED/routine prayer in school." I have no problem with people choosing to pray on their own, but having public schools leading a class in prayer to the Christian God is completely wrong, in my opinion.

If the responses in this thread are in any way indicative of the voting public, I fear for the future of our Constitutional Republic...polarization is in full swing.

Could you be more specific? I think you are putting too much credence in the survey.

My view is that only those who are truly interested in the outcome would take this poll...and are "most likely to actually vote".

Granted, all of the Storm2K membership won't post herein, but the trend so far appears to be a return to 2000 in sentiments..and that was razor-thin, or "split right down the middle".

I agree with both of you - organized prayer no, but moment of silence to pray to "whomever" or to gather your thoughts yes.

I never thought that the views of the public has changed since 2000. I think we are just as polarized IF NOT MORE. Regardless of who wins this election (aka which side  ), we will remain polarized for a while IMHO.

I feel that I am Republican from being brought up in a "Republican household." -- but feel I lean more to the left on issues I understand enough to have confident enough view on.

So, in recent days I consider myself to the right of central.

These days if you pray in school you could be expelled. Public schools are reaching all time lows, i'm sick of it personally, and thankfully will be the class of 2007.. and out.

I have never heard of such a thing happening; I'm not sure where you're getting that from. Here in Virginia, we have a "moment of silence" at the beginning of every school day for the explicit purpose of prayer/meditation/whatever. This should be more than enough for religious individuals as far as I'm concerned; for me, it just wastes another moment of my day that I could be spending doing something I find constructive. For one thing, you have all but 7 of the 24 hours of the day to pray outside of school... why is it so crucial to fight to ensure that everyone has the right to pray in those 7 hours when students are supposed to be getting an education? Could it be the conservative agenda to ultimately reinstate Christianity in public life wherever and whenever possible? Nah, of course not, what am I thinking ;). But all joking aside, I seriously doubt your claim about kids getting expelled for praying in school. The only way I could see any punishment taking place (and it would certainly be suspension at worst) is if they were doing so during instruction, and in that case, it's just as bad as someone pulling out their cellphone and giving their buddy a call in the middle of the lecture, and they should be corrected IMO.

In our school district, any prayer is an open invitation for detention/temporary expulsion and mandatory counseling sessions. :grrr:

It's left up to the individual school district to choose the standards in MO.
