Question About Satellite/Grahpics Looping

#1 Postby wxman57 » Wed Feb 11, 2004 2:52 pm

Back during the tropical storm season, someone here posted a link to a web page that used something other than the ANIS2 applet to loop images. Currently, we're using ANIS2 to loop and zoom images - just like the NHS does with their radars. However, this applet has a problem with .PNG images and it has a bigger problem in that it requires the input of a second user name/password if the link is behind a password-protected part of our web site.

I know I saw someone post a link to some satellite images or maybe a GFS run 3-4 months ago that used another looping method. I'm pretty sure it was one of the moderators here, maybe Stormsfury? I'd like a method to loop images that allows some flexibility like zooming, removing bad images. But aven a simple start/stop loop button would be better than nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?

I believe it was me, wxman57. I posted a GFS map loop (saving all the images as .gif files and renamed the files to suit the same encoding that the RAMSDIS animator followed ... and currently, most of my loops are now running under the ANIS2 (just like the NWS radars) ...

Currently, just about everything that I've seen has problems looping .PNG formats ... the only site so far that MIGHT (not sure) be the AOML site or another site, but I would have to find something on that ...

I'll get back to you on this ... likely by PM ...
