This poll is for the cape verde season only not for the whole atlantic basin.According to the factors so far the cape verde season will be another active one maybe not like 2003 but more active than average.

The most important poll (Your Predictions) will be posted on april 1.

slightly above average to average. dr. gray's forecast had a highly unfavorable slpa reading for the eastern atlantic. it was like -2.35 or something, when a "normal" value was like 0.35. this also assumes all else produces relatively favorable conditions.

on another note...i'd suspect gray may raise his april forecast if the cooling of the eastern pacific continues. this would allow for a neutral pattern (as some here have mentioned) instead of a weak el nino.

I have a feeling it won't be active, it will be average. Let's say there are 15 storms, I think there will be 5 Cape Verde storms. More storms will form in the Gulf and Northwestern Atlantic, I think.

If u look at climatology.
In El Nino years which next year is predicted to be there is a great downturn off Cape Verde storms look at 1997 and 2002 out of the current years but if the el Nino is weak it may have more than those in saying that we know IT WILL NOT BE ACTIVE.

In El Nino years the Caribbean Sea, GOM and the Western Atlantic are the main areas of tropical development with mabe one or two storms developing in the vicinity of the Cape Verde region.
