A weather forecast office (Charleston) is issuing warnings for winter storms, severe thunderstorms, and special marine warings all from the same area of R/ZR/TS ...

Been there, done that ... but it would have been thunderstorms with freezing rain like what occurred in the Midlands of South Carolina today ...

Colder temperatures are NOW working south into the area ... down to 33º here, but the deepest moisture has now abated ... however, freezing rain/drizzle is expected around midnight ...

I'm expecting probably .10" of ice, not damaging, just 10 miles NORTH are expecting a ¼" of ice tonight as Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect until 6 am tomorrow morning.

Some pretty heavy echoes heading up from Spartanburg for me. I gotta think there's alot of sleet in that.

I thought the same thing living in Spartanburg but it is all rain and pretty steady and heavy rain.....yuck....just glad it is moving fairly quick!

Amazing that it's all FRZ RAIN too, since the soundings are quite dry and evaporational cooling processes would suggest that the precip would mix more with sleet ...
