...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON TO WEDNESDAY
MORNING...
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON TUESDAY...

SPECIFICALLY THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY AND THE WINTER STORM WATCH
INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

IN PENNSYLVANIA...
BERKS...BUCKS...CARBON...CHESTER...DELAWARE...LEHIGH
MONROE...MONTGOMERY...NORTHAMPTON...AND PHILADELPHIA.

IN NEW JERSEY...
BURLINGTON...CAMDEN...GLOUCESTER...HUNTERDON...MERCER...MIDDLESEX
MONMOUTH...MORRIS...OCEAN...SALEM...SOMERSET...SUSSEX AND WARREN.

IN DELAWARE...
NEW CASTLE.

IN MARYLAND...
CECIL AND KENT.

HIGH PRESSURE OVER EASTERN CANADA AND EXTENDING SOUTHWARD OVER THE
REGION WILL KEEP COLD AIR OVER THE REGION THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.
WHILE THIS OCCURS...WINDS AT AND ABOVE 5000 FEET WILL CONTINUE TO
BRING IN MOISTURE FROM THE SOUTH. THIS COMBINATION WILL KEEP AREAS
OF LIGHT SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING DRIZZLE IN PLACE THROUGH TUESDAY
MORNING. ALTHOUGH LITTLE OR NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS FORECAST...THE
FREEZING DRIZZLE COULD MAKE CONDITIONS VERY SLIPPERY...ESPECIALLY ON
UNTREATED ROADWAYS.

ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW MAY DEVELOP TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT. WEAK
LOW PRESSURE OVER THE CAROLINAS WILL ORGANIZE AND THEN INTENSIFY AS
IT HEADS UP THE EAST COAST. THE CIRCULATION AROUND THE LOW SHOULD
BRING HEAVIER PRECIPITATION TO THE REGION WHILE KEEPING THE COLD AIR
IN PLACE.

INITIALLY ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON...THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD BEGIN IN
THE FORM OF FREEZING RAIN OVER SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA...CENTRAL NEW
JERSEY...NORTHERN DELAWARE AND NORTHEAST MARYLAND. THEN AS COLD AIR
WRAPS BACK IN FROM THE NORTH...THE FREEZING RAIN WOULD CHANGE TO
SNOW. OVER EAST CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA AND NORTHERN NEW
JERSEY...IT SHOULD BE COLD ENOUGH THAT THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD FALL
IN THE FORM OF SNOW.

THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR 5 TO 10 INCHES IN AREAS NORTH AND WEST OF
PHILADELPHIA. FROM NORTHEAST MARYLAND THROUGH SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL
NEW JERSEY...INCLUDING THE PHILADELPHIA METROPOLITAN AREA...3 TO 6
INCHES OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE.

A WINTER STORM WATCH IS ISSUED WHEN SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS
POSSIBLE, BUT NOT IMMINENT. AT THE TIME, THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR
SIGNIFICANT SNOW AND/OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS. FUTURE DRIVING AND WALKING
CONDITIONS MAY BECOME HAZARDOUS, SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO MONITOR THE
LATEST FORECASTS.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA FOR FURTHER
INFORMATION.

They may bust in the southern areas, if you believe the latest ETA run, but they should do ok in the northern areas like sussex countey, etc...

Good discussion from Mt. Holly, I think they have it hit pretty well.

3 to 6 inches for Philly and their immediate suburbs sounds right at this juncture. I would put the 5 to 10 north and northeast of that area. South and southwest of Philly would be < 3 inches IMO. The 0z runs will be a big factor in determining if this looks good, or either too aggressive or understated.

As of right now, I think they made a good call on amounts. Well see what happens on the 0z runs.

I don't know how 3-6" is going to pan out, UNLESS it winds up being colder at 850 and the surface then the models are progging....

It's obvious that Mt. Holly thinks that the ETA temp profile is too high...

We in Philly and Central NJ need the low to deepen further south, just slightly...

otherwise I'd say 2-4" for philly and central NJ with the most in Monmouth/North Ocean/North Burlington/and north suburbs of Philly

No more then a trace to an inch (but possible sign. ice) for areas south and west

N NJ and NYC are in for at least 6" though regardless...
