Everyone seems to be focused on the Sunday/Monday event. I however would like to mention that the models are showing a better and better with each run developing system behind the Sun/Mon Bringing another round of decent snow to i70 norh in IN/OH again and as well into Michigan and Central PA on into the NE. Heaviest right now looks to be in Michigan *especially areas closer to Detroit* Northern OH, NW.PA, into NY and on into the rest of the NE especially towards Boston. All i can say is wow.

BTW this is mostly based on the 12zGFS. Has been showing on other runs as well but a bit back and forth with it. Todays was most impressive so i figured i should mention it. Keep a eye on it ESPECIALLY those that may miss the first system.

total precip for second system. Note that areas from about Philly on south some of this does include the Sunday/Monday system.

*Edit*.......Look at my reply below concerning the 18z GFS!

king of weather:

Thanks for the post! The NWS in Topeka is starting to discuss this system as well-so much focus here has been on the proposed ice storm tonight that the system Monday looks to give us a possible 2 inches of snow-doesn't sound like much, but for an area as snow starved (12 inches the past 2 years!!!) as us, it looks darned good!! Still not sure about tonight-we are still at 40 and the sun is barely filtered-looks like the mositure and cold air may not meet in time!! Quick question if you don't mind: do you think the artic air will ever reach the central plains-they are pushing it back yet again (NWS and models) and it seems it might disappear?? Thanks

Kinda hard to say at this point sertorius. I have been thinking later next week the artic air will arrive. On another note the 18z is looking more impresive for you guys out in KS/MO............

Woah on that 18z. This is looking very intresting as well. A bit farther south then the 12z.

GEEZ This looks like a bigger hit (For me) then with the initial system!!!

KOW:

Thanks for the reply-it does seem like with each run, this Monday event is getting better!! It's funny-this is kind of what they were forcasting earlier in the week-the gfs lost it now it has it again!! I kind of hope the artic air hits here in the next 7-10 days-I'm ready for a week (I know how crazy this sounds!!!) of real cold weather-it has been a long....... time since we have had that-Friday they were talking about noze freezing cold for Thursday of this week-now the gfs has us in the 40's and possibly 50's by Friday-then the artic hits Sunday-who knows!! Thanks again-I hope these two storms give you good snow!!

Some of the NWS offices in the northeast have been talking about a southward bias on the GFS in these types of situations...I'm not sure if HPC mentioned it or not, but the ETA has been further north with the second system that has been discussed in this thread. Just something to think about. I think this second system should be just as interesting as the first one, and it should spread the snow into the northeast where they get missed by the first one.
