Yeah temps need to be alot lower than that if we want more than a few flurries mixed with rain but yes it is exciting to see it in the forecast.

If their dewpoints were in the upper teens and you factor in some evap.cooling with not too much WAA and you can hold off that infamous GOM SE component for a bit, I bet they could see some snow even with temps in the low/mid 40s!!! :) :) :) :)

I saw some snow fall in N VA at 45 degrees back in the 1970s once. Evaporative cooling + Low dewpoints can get it done.

-JEB!!!!!!!!!! BRING THAT SNOW to BreinLa's neighborhood!!! PLEASE let them see some snow!!!!!

That would be nice but I want the snow to stay on the ground. I've always envisioned waking up to 4-5" of snow and it blowing all around in my back yard...just to see your town with snow everywhere for 2 days or so would be great. I'm hoping for a big arctic blast...lows in the mid teens, highs in upper 20's (happened in 1996) for 3 days with an active southern jet :D

With this strong Greenland Block setup, you guys down south may well get your wish.

The Polar Vortex will drop into the Northern Plains later, and when it does, I bet you could see highs in the upper 20s on the northern GOM Coast, with lows in the teens.

The subtropical jet will be extremely active. Storms tend to develop and move along the edge of the polar airmass, so I bet you may well see your 4 to 5 inches of snow down on the Gulf Coast states and due to the EXTREME intrusion of arctic values so far south, I believe some of you even in the Deep South could conceivably enjoy 5 inches of snow, then experience the snow on the ground for 2 to 5 days!!!

Hey if you like, I can send you a snow shovel by Fed Express!!! But the shipping charges will be MURDER!!!

Hey, What's Your Preference?

-JEB!!!!!!!!!!!!GREENLAND BLOCK, Send the folks down south 6 inches of snow plus highs in the upper 20s PLEASE!!! BRING IT!!!!!!!!!! :)

What is interesting is that more than one model and several other sources are leaning towards a winter precip event all along the Gulf Coast from Tx through LA yet our locals are refusing to even allude to it yet. HHHHMMMMMM??????? Wonder if it has anything to do with the Super Bowl being in town the day it could snow?????HHHHHMMMMM????????

Locals are always EXTREMELY cautious when forecasting snow down here because people get so excited when they hear it might snow. I've actually heard local mets give this reason for not talking about it, but they do give hints like "could get interesting" or "could see some of that s word".
