Keep your fingers crossed Kelly but don't get your hopes up too much. I remember back in December of 1996 right before christmas we were forecast to see 2-4" of snow and all we got were flurries. It's such a tough forecast for snow down here. It'll be nice to get an arctic blast though, for a while I was thinking we wouldn't have one this year.

Not me----If it snows, I'll enjoy it, but, one of the greatest things, to me, about living South is that I don't have to deal with it! I have relatives up North that I visit and I see it and feel enough of the sub-zero weather every year. I visit 12 feet of the stuff for a week every year on the slopes in Colorado in temps usually 0 to -20F---and play in it the whole week. That's when I get my fill---nothing makes me happier than to come home from that, go in the backyard and play with my dog in 60F weather!! But, if it snows, I'll get out and enjoy it and takes some pics to look at until the next snow in New Orleans!

I gotta agree with you here Sean. As bad as I want snow (and I want it bad!), I do love being able to enjoy the outdoors year round.

Just thought I'd add some of what one of the local stations, KFDM, said.
http://www.kfdm1.com/weather.shtml

SOME OF THE COLDEST AIR IN YEAR'S IS "POSSIBLE" IN ABOUT A WEEK! COLD ARCTIC AIR THAT HAS BEEN LOCKED NORTH OF THE BORDER MAY BREAK LOOSE!
A Canadian cold front will work into the area Monday with colder temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday. After that it's all eyes...As you know I've been saying for the last month or so we were going to get blasted with very cold weather. It has been a very cold Winter this year. In forecasting, especially a week or more out, timing is critical. The point i've been trying to make is the pattern is favorable for a bitter cold outbreak before this Winter is over. I still think we have a shot late next week and weekend (Super Bowl Weekend). It all depends on where the upper low sets up in Canada or over the northern U.S. As of now models show it setting up over the northern U.S. This doesn't happen often. This feature usually sets up over Hudson Bay. If this pans out the Dam will break and all the Bitter cold air that's been setting up in Canada this Winter will be Released. The nature of this air is so cold that we've been mild compared to that. As of Today models have the first shot coming in late next Thursday followed by the main Wolf next weekend. Also, as of now Snow and Sleet is shown by data as well next Sunday and Monday. I'm just giving what could happen and IS SHOWN AS OF NOW TO HAPPEN NEXT WEEKEND.

Carl Arredondo mentioned it this evening on Channel 4--I didn't watch the other channels. He said next weekend it appears that artic air may, indeed, be in the area and that we need to watch next weekend closely as it approaches next week. He said Friday will start around 50F early and drop throughout the day on Friday---we've got a week to see if this comes to fruition.

Sean, I couldn't have said it any better myself! I was in Park city, Utah from the day after christmas until after new years and experienced 70-80 inches of snow fall while I was there and they already had 50" bases at the ski resorts. It is the most snow I've ever seen and more than all the snow bound folks up north see even in their biggest storms so I was perfectly content on coming back home and enjoying our mild winter. The chances of snow next weekend sure are exciting though!
Brein: Did Rob Perillo say that about next weekend?
